The hp ipaq 5450 is the commercial version of the hp ipaq 5455. This sometimes means that the commercial version (5450 in this case) has less software bundled in the box, or has less software installed and actually on the cd and needing to be installed on the unit via the cd or the cd itself is merely a link to the software online instead of burned on the cd. The commercial version sku 5450 is distinct from the 5455 retail sku which means the 5450 sku is able to be sold via online resellers or in wholesale warehouses like CostCo at a lower "retail" price without compromising the corporate agreements hp/compaq has with traditional retailers, aka brick-and-mortor stores like CompUSA, Best Buy, etc. In the past there were more significant differences, such as in the case of the Jornad 548 versus the commercial sku of the Jornada 540 where the 540 did not contain a cradle or contained a serial-only cradle versus the (at-that-time) more-advanced USB cradle. Hope this helps a little. :turn-l:

I think the 5455 is the US version of the 5450 which is distributed in Asia and Europe....

There is no difference between the two. The 5440 is sold on line. The 5455 is sole in physical retail locations.

They are separated for marketing and sales purposes only.

Well I know this thread is starting to wander but I bought my 5455 online from Costco (unit is not sold in stores (yet?) online ONLY).
