<a href="http://www.jenneth.info/20030219.htm">http://www.jenneth.info/20030219.htm</a><br /><br />Jenneth has another cool article on her site, this one written by a former <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/hansberry/2003/20030220-rejoice.jpg">Palm user that switched to the Pocket PC</a>. Article author Mervyn Johnson starts with a Pocket PC and a list of what many of us consider "must have" software like Pocket Informant, ListPro, eWallet and Fitaly (no - Mervyn is not an alias for EdH ;) )<br /><br />"I take my Pocket PC with me everywhere I go, using it quite a lot at work to store technical documents and to keep track of appointments. Previously, I would also bring my Palm device with me to work, but I never took it anywhere else, so I can see my PDA-usage patterns increasing with my new purchase."<br /><br />Read the rest whole article to see how this user made the switch.

Funny, my friends always ask me about battery life of my PPC and my response is if you use the PPC in exactly the same ways you use your Palm, you could probably use it all week without recharging, but...

For me, I certainly use my PPC for EVERYTHING which require that I charge it constantly (good for the LiPol batteries anyway).

Good choices on the apps, I could never survive without FITALY and LISTPRO!!

Nice basic review, clears a lot of smoke curtains arround platform wars here and there. New PDA users and changing POS users should always read things like this one.

However I wouldn't use it to argue with my 'palm-using' friends, it lacks some info (i.e. it seems not clear to asume List Pro is available for POS too).

I like the s/w she talks about, really good choices.

Regards.

wow..long review. I haven't finished reading it all (my eyes are hurting today). However, I didn't find any reference what kind of pocket pc the reviewer is using. I glanced at the end and saw nothing also. Just curious. 8)

I thought it was an interesting review, but I don't feel she's really comparing like with like - a Palm III isn't really in the same league as a PPC. On the other hand I'd say that a Tungsten|T was on much more of a par (it has at least has a colour screen for one thing!). It's also perfectly able to do the same things that she wants to do - e.g., Documents to Go is bundled with it (for Word/Excel, and Powerpoint files), SplashPhoto & AcidImage can both handle JPEGs, etc. in raw format.

As it is I think the review examines some useful PPC apps, but I think the comparisons with a Palm can't really be wholly justified based on the difference in the models being considered.

Cheers
