Heck, I think the Evest is pretty nice looking with sleeves. It's only in it's "vest" form I'm quite iffy about it. This special design is great, but ouch. No way I can drop $300 for one.

I can't imagine why anyone would call This (http://www.scottevest.com/product/chad_outside3_pop.htm) geeky, but This (http://www.scottevest.com/product/mini2_sportlite_pop.html) or This (http://www.scottevest.com/product/camelbak_sportlite_pop.html)... yeah. I don't think I could wear that in public.

So, you can go ahead and call me a Geek and make jokes,

Ya know, I'm curious. This "call me a geek and make jokes" thing usually comes up when you talk about the eVest... but I don't believe I've ever seen anyone do so? So, is this really happening in real life or something? Because, well, I'd like to know if it really looks like the photos or people really think it's that bad. Or is this all a preemptive strike like "No whining!"?

Geek.....ha ha ha

just kidding. I think its great that fashion is taking a turn for convinience when it comes to technology. If I had a Mac (or maybe just a firewire port) I might be thinking of droping 500 muhlas for the Burton iPod jacket...although I dont ski :?

Have fun with your leather vest when it starts shipping

I'll be looking for a review

So, you can go ahead and call me a Geek and make jokes,

Geek...and...

"Two weasels are sitting on a bar stool. One starts to insult the other one. He screams, 'I slept with your mother!'

"The bar gets quiet as everyone listens to see what the other weasel will do.

"The first again yells, 'I SLEPT WITH YOUR MOTHER!'

"The other says: 'Go home dad, you're drunk."'

:)

but I'll take the SCOTTeVest over Ed's Dockers Mobile Pants (http://www.us.dockers.com/spr03a/dockers/prod/d_prod.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2643237&bmUID=1045711654883) any day of the week!

Hey! Lets not attack the Mobile pants!

Seriously, I like this eVest a lot better than the original one (which I think looks like a fishermans vest). I'm glad to see some of this technology clothing trying to imitate regular fashion rather than going on the "they're geeks anyway so they won't care" philosophy. I know I've replaced all my dockers with mobile pants!

That said, you're still a geek, but a geek undercover (which is the coolest of the geeks!)

I think the leather version is for geeks in denial...

I doubt a wallet makes a guy geeky. :-)

I'm more curious why someone needs four Pocket PCs, two mobile phones and two hands-free earbuds. How many hands, mouths and ears does Brad have?

Geek, maybe. But you can never go wrong with leather. Very kinky.

I've actually thought about getting something similar yet less.. leather. I thought about buying one of those SWAT type tactical vests. It's got like a hundred pockets, and will carry all my PPC's, palm, clie, revo, two cellphones, rambo knife, four spare clips for my beretta, and half a dozen flashbangs :D I can get one of these for about $ 40 at a local dumpstore. Yes, it looks so damn geeky, but it's definately the accesory to have around the house or on the move.

Leather is always in fashion. It's only what's in it that can ruin the effect...
So, can we wish for a give-away on this baby? :D

I got an E-vest for Christmas and simply adore it. I've stopped carrying a purse. The feature most people notice is the zip-off sleeves. I've never been accused of being a geek; most people just see a jacket. It's only when they see me taking stuff out of pockets or stuffing things back in that they take a closer look and start asking questions.

It was in the large pocket in the back of the vest.

http://www.scottevest.com/company/licensing.htm

I can't believe they're trying to patent "Pockets in Pockets", "PAN" and "Conduits". I have seen other products with similar designs (backpacks, for example). And what about the new Dockers?

Either they will lose the patent or there will be a lot of lawsuits. 8O

Brad, which version do you have? I've heard that these vests/jackets tend to fit big, but I also read on their site that the v2.5 sizing is done differently.

I've got v2.0. I'm a rather large guy (6'3") and the Large that I have fits pretty well. I've not tried on a v2.5, so I can't say how trhe sizing goes with it.

IME, the sizing is extremely accurate.

To me, this is just a vest with lots and lots of pockets, big and small. Nothing really special. Nothing geeky. If you look hard enough, you will be able to find many jackets with many pockets.

What will qualify as a really geeky vest will be one which does one or more of the following things (in addition to having lots of pockets):

1. Serve as an alternative power source for your gadgets. Maybe there can be solar panels at the back. Under shade, the vest harnesses your body heat and converts them into power.

2. Material of the vest makes the vest an extension of your device antennae. Maybe boost your wireless reception.

3. Vest contains circuitry for networking. Put your PDA in your right pocket which syncs with the info in your mobile phone in your left pocket.

Ok, I will keep the rest a secret coz I think I may want to market such a vest.

No, these are pockets for gizmos and there are "tunnels" in the jacket to conceal wires that run from device to device and device to your ears. This isn't like a hunting vest that just has tons of pockets. It is meant to conceal an entire LAN on your body, and does so effectively. If you take off the earbuds, no one would have any idea what you were carrying around or the fact that you could walk past an ATM and disrupt its operations with your magnetic field.
