I am getting a signal from someone...

I have my desktop and my Ipaq set on an adhoc connection. It works great does all that I want. Last night I did a hard reset on my device (just cleaning old files) and reinstalled my CF card drivers. I noticed when I was about to configure everything that it was getting a signal from somewhere. I always have it set to adhoc so this happens when I switch to infrastructure.

Under infrastructure I get assigned an IP address and get a strong signal. What can I do to find more about this signal? I cant access the internet on it nor ping back a couple of possible IPs .


btw, there is an ISP office just two blocks from my house,... I can see their antenna from here!

They (the ISP) probably either filter their MAC addresses, or block unauthoized MAC addresses once they notice them. You'll still get their signal though even if they filter MAC address.
