I'm trying to find out where the iPAQ 5455 stores it's WEP keys. Is it stored in a file?

The reason that I ask is because my company's IT dept keeps their WEP keys very confidential (for obvious reasons) and they have to manually input it on each handheld. Recently, my 5455 has been acting very buggy and I want to do a hard reset (completely wipe the memory) and reload my software. My only issue is if I do this, then I'll lose my WEP keys and I don't want to keep asking to have this IT individual to keep reinputing the keys (it's difficult to get ahold of him).

So I want to back up only the file that holds the WEP keys. Can someone advise where the keys are????

The profile WEP keys are stored in the Pocket PC registry at HKey_Local_Machine\Software\CAP\Profiles\[profile name]

The keys do not appear to be stored in either ASCII or Hex formats, but I suppose you could create a profile using the wireless utility and then manually enter these keys into the registry using a registry editor such as PHM Registry Editor (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit).

Not simple, but maybe it can point you in the right direction.

I can tell you where the wep keys are located, HOWEVER, it will do you no good. Once the keys are entered and the settings are saved the digits and letters of all four keys are masked by asteriks..

Anyway goto:

START,SETTINGS,IPAQ WAN,

and EDIT the profile...

As you go thru the settings the third screen is the wep encryption screen......
