Hi all,
I’ve read in the past that Microsoft did not want to optimize for the Xscale because if would have to maintain two code bases.
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1772&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Microsoft's attitude is since Xscale supports ARM4 instructions(used in StrongArm) why bother to optimize for ARM5?
Then I have read elsewhere that the next version of PPC will be optimized for Xscale.

So, what is the straight dope? Will Pocket PC 2003 be faster for Xscale users?

I read that a while ago over on www.brighthand.com that it wasn't going to happen. the Xscale extensions are only used by intel. Maybe the next os will support ARMv5 but i'm not shure about that either

Well Microsoft is trying to get support for the MIPS processors with its new CE .NET code, so why not revise the current CE 3.0 code? Oh well, CE .NET is the entire kernal, we'll see what makes it in the Pocket PC kernal.
