I have AS 3.6... now, i have no idea why, but every time i place my h5450 on my cradle, i get the "Add/Remove Programs..." poping up!
Also, I see all the check boxes on the list on gray.
And.... I 5 of 10 time get that i'm a GUEST on my own computer!!!
HELP... Should i kill ActiveSync?? Any Registry modification to don't have this pop up??

If it's comming up as guest on your computer.... maybe delete and remake the patnership? it shouldn't wipe out any of your installed programs of anything, so it wouldn't hurt to try it.
Maybe see if MS has this in a troubleshooting faq with 3.6

HotSync is better at a lot of things. For example, you can sync with unlimited computers, it backs up your entire handheld, and doesn't cause any problems. Can anyone say the same for ActiveSync?

Having similar problems. It almost never fails, I put my 5450 into the cradle and it turns on, begins to charge, and thats it. Then I remove and reseat it and boom, activesync pops up. I have only had the "guest" thing happen once, and it uninstalled two applications on it's own, very strange, Age of empires and i can't remember the other, I have tried to find a patch or something from HP's website and I have nothing.... Not even a little note about support for the handheld or anything. I hope that they at least acknowledge this soon. I haven't had a singe issue with wireless lock-ups or crashes yet though thank goodness. I haven't tried activesync 3.5 on this cause I had already upgraded to 3.6 when I had my e200.
Current Wish list:
Activesync version 4 with MUCH LESS CRAP
A real Real media player that ACTUALLY CAN PLAY A CLIP
More bluetooth cell phones :)

I would love unlimited partnerships with AS.
If you want a decent vid player, get Pocket MVP.

I gave up trying to fix ActiveSync. I replaced my computer. Since then, all syncs have beeen flawless. An expensive fix, but I was tired of my old pc with Windows 98, crashing.

AS 3.6 does the same thing with me.
My tosh e550G w/EUU3 will not do AS 2 out of 10 times and I have to soft reset the pda. Other times I will get the guest connection until I reboot the machine (Win2k w/sp3 and all updates). And other times I get found new device with loding driver errors. I have to shutdown the pc and then boot it back up. I have even gone as far as wiping the pda and system to new to fix this. I always make an image before I do this so I can go back to my stable OS enviroment when I make certain it is not a end user has no brain error. Maybe MS needs to look at the palm desktop software and take PDA syncing code knowledge from them (without making a lawsuit).

To be honest, I have never tried AS 3.6 because there isn't one for the Chinese version. So I am still working with AS 3.5 which I found quite reliable. My systems are XP and 2000 over 3 computers. All of them sync fine.
So after hearing so many of you complaining about 3.6. I don't think I'll ever use it unless it has fixed the bugs...
So why not go back to AS 3.5? I am sure you can still download it from MS download site.
