They spent a lot of time comparing video but also touched on other issues. I can't get to the site right now but if you are in the market for a $250-$299 Pocket PC, you might want to head over and check the review out.

Update: The site is back up and the link is now a direct link.

Yeah I thought they did a good job comparing the pros and cons. I really like the little ipaq and if I werent such a glutton for punishment ( I need help) I would have that instead of my 5455

Gawd! Lets hope Leo didnt do the review, the dolt! Id listen to Martin's advice first!
I dont have it recorded, but Ill try to catch it. Leo is the same idiot that was answering a callers question about Video CDs, and he made the statement that SVCD's used MPEG-1 so it wouldnt be better than a VCD. Not to argue the quality issue, but we all know that SVCD is MPEG-2 CODEC. :-)

Well, after seeing the dropped frames from all the X-scale processors, I am glad I have held on to my Jornada 568 :)
Until there is a very significant performance improvements over 206 mhz Strongarm-based PPC's, i'll be holding off on the upgrade (though the screens on the Axims sure look nice and aren't dusty).

How can they CHOOSE the DELL over the IPaq 1910 200 Mhz and the Viewsonic 300Mhz????????????
EASY!!!!!!
The Dell model was the 400 MHZ HIGH END MODEL !!
What the hell kind of apples to oranges comparison was that!!
The ipaq 200 mhz blew the pants off of the viewsonic (300mhz) in all their "benchmarks". But go figure........ The dell model was their winner, IT WAS THE 400 MHZ HIGHER END MODEL! You think they can mention a little disclaimer.
Stupid review, very disappointed in TSS.

TechTV did something really bad here, They did not use PocketMVP which does have XScale optimizations! I maybe drop about 200 frames in a 30 minute 30fps 320x240 divx on my 400mhz axim. In reality, if you are happy with a StrongArm PPC, stay with it. The Raw Power of the 400mhz XScale is not much greater (By Intels own tests).
I just wished Apples MHZ != Performace ads sunk in to people better when they had them.

I saw the 1910 and compared it to the 3970 and it appeared to my old eyes that the 1910 was a tad more sharper, brighter, and had deeper colors...
but I have yet to see the 5450 in person...
probably doesn't matter...I think I'll wait for one with the new bus...anyway...
thanks

I just saw my 1st H1910 and I'll tell you something, it is the FIRST time I had 2nd thoughts about my Axim. Performance aside, that is one s-w-e-e-t looking machine. They also had the V35 on display and it was my 1st time seeing that machine as well.
I kept asking myself if I would have ordered the Axim had I seen the H1910? While it was a tough choice, I think I would have ordered the Dell. But the decision would have been MUCH more difficult than I had imagined. HP hit a triple with this machine. Very nicely done.
I also think the V35 is in for a tough ride. That was actually my 1st choice until Amazon botched my order so badly they caused me to cancel and buy the Dell. I don't mean denigrate anyones machine, but it looked like a tweener (you know, kind of like a 6'2" shooting guard or a 6'5" power forward :D ). It competes on size but it is bigger than the H1910. SDIO is nice though and maybe that makes up the difference. It seems if size is the main criteria, one will go with the H1910. If it's performance, the Dell appears to be the winner. Leaving precious little for Viewsonic. Also, their handling of the internal memory issue did not win them any points.
Just my opinion.

wiljs, the 1910 does have a most beautiful screen, Ive see it in person. It is a fine unit, and if it was selected there would be no argument they got a very good device. Even with its 200mhz speed, its pretty snappy. Multimedia isnt everything, sometimes just price and good performance comes in first in making a decision, as it did with me and my used Maestro, which I have *no complaints over*. (Although, I generate 240X160 MPEG1 videos at 300kbs and watch them with PocketTV and Im totally thrilled and satisfed. Just this weekend, I had an owner of a new Cliea (Sp?) drooling over my $170 PPC! :-)
