The answer is, A lot. But how much of it is for productivity vs. entertainment?. My 21mb of extra rom space is filled with software + 5mb in the ram storage for NetFront. My 64mb SD card has about 12 mbs of PDF's and Documents I am working on. My 256mb CF card constantly has music, movies, tv shows, and audible books on it. I am holding out for a 4gb Microdrive this fall though :) 48mb for productivity vs 256mb entertainment.
Then again, becuase my Axim is my mp3 player now, this does skew my answer. I was getting around with just a 64mb SD card for a while.

My core apps are installed in PPC RAM, I have several other apps installed on my 64M SD card. On my 96M CF card there are many ebooks and a few MP3s, a few short videos (To impress Palm owners with), and a bunch of family pictures in .jpg format (Again, to impress anyone with less than a Tungston over.. even though, I dont think the $500 Tungston has as good or big a screen as my $160 Maestro HAHAHA).
I am waiting for funds to get a 256M CF card to stor assorted files on, but my 64M SD card isnt even 1/2 full with software as of yet. The SD card will remain dedicated for programs, the CF slot with BIG card will be for all other files.

I have a 128 MB SD card that I put only MP3s and short videos on (really really short, due to the limited space). All my ebooks go on the ROM .. or RAM ?? Not sure about the difference.
A friend of mine will be in Hong Kong and Singapore next week and I am hoping she can buy me a CHEAP 512 MB SD card there. Supposedly electronics there are a lot cheaper than in Europe.
Could not make myself buy a bulky expansion pack for my Ipaq yet, so I have to wait for SD cards to get bigger and

I use my 128 Mb SD card for MP3s and short movies only and all my programs and games go in my 64 mb CF card, unless they are very important and being frequently used, in which case I put them in ROM. My RAM is totally free.
I am planning on buying a microdrive soon though, so that I can rip full motion picture movies etc.

I use the internal RAM for programs and data created on the PPC. I too keep a short film (http://www.bmwfilms.com) on board just to impress potential friends.. :-p
My 64meg CF card ($20 at staples awhile back) is mainly used for mp3's and transfering files to my Jornada, since I can't stand the "copy and convert" process when it's docked..
I also use the flash rom available to back up my task/contact/etc info, and my CodeWallet file!

I just got a iPaq 1910 and THANK GOD I also decided to buy a 128meg sd card from ebay (50 bucks brand new!). Its my first hand-held and getting a memory card was the best next idea yet! I filled up the card quickly with lots of nonsense but it was a great feeling not having to worry about "how much memory you have left" when you're a noob. I've enjoyed my ipaq so much in the last few weeks I could cry of happiness! =)

128CF card, though I've been definitely thinking of upgrading - it seems like I have more and more uses for the card, but still the same amount of memory. Besides, with CF prices dropping so quickly, why not?

In my iPAQ 3870, I've got a 512 MB CF card and a 256 MB SD card.
The CF card is used for only two things:
The Pocket CoPilot GPS software and maps
Most of my MP3s
The SD card is used for more things:
Programs I don't want in main memory (including Adobe Acrobat and the Real Player)
eBooks
Photos
Pocket Streets maps
Video
Flash files
Backup files
MP3s that don't fit on my CF card

Talk about swattin' a fly with a sledgehammer! I have a 340mb microdrive for my ancient Casio E-100. I keep my RAM in the PPC free for processing and try to store programs on the CF drive. It's a little harder on battery life, but I don't have wait for programs.
My Axim is on it's way, and I think I will get an SD card for programs and use the drive for large stuff.

64MB CF + 128MB CF.
128MB for MP3's, pictures and ebooks. 64MB for programs that I like to have, but don't use very often.
Cheers.

 Dream on!
512 MB SD cards are still over $250, while 512 MB CF cards are in the low $100 range. I'd expect a 1 GB SD card to be at least $500. I'd like them lower, too, but I'm realistic.
