Amazon.com has rebates on most PDAs for the month of Feburary - $25 on the budget models like the V35, ipaq 1910, etc. and $50 on the higher end ones like the Toshiba e740, ipaq 3955, etc.

I'm thinking of ordering the 3955 from them ($500 minus $50 rebate) but wonder how they are about returns for major or minor defects -- or if I just decide I don't want it (assuming I return everything in saleable condition of course)

In general of course they have a good reputation but I wondered if anyone has had experience buying PDAs there, good or bad.

Best thing to do first is to check their posted return policy.

Absolutely. You should read their return policy online, or even email customer service to confirm your understanding.

From my own experience, I purchased a Canon digicam and returned it within 30 days, with everything in the same condition as I received (in like-new condition, packaging and all). The only thing I was charged for was the shipping costs for the return, but the refund was issued in less than 2 weeks upon their receipt of the item.

Amazon has been a pretty good company to me even though they don't always ship on the schedule they say they will.

I bought my first PPC through them (EM500). The great thing with Amazon is that being in CA, I didn't get charged taxes and they offer free shipping for a lot of items.

I've heard positive things about their Customer Support as well... I would guess that they have a great relationship with their vendors and can return products that are deemed defective (many smaller dealers have no such deals).
