Given the previous post about Siemens Xelibri, I hope we won't see this around anyone's neck. It is <a href="http://www.mobile-review.com/">rumored</a> to be one of Sony Ericsson's new phones. I know they are known to make brick-like hardware, but this... is even the right color! <br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/ericssonsux_01.jpg" />

Ok, that is really ugly. I have a T68I and I like the looks of it, but this one, come on. What are they thinking, but then again, someone will buy this. Someone always buys something in this world.

Now _that_ is a phone that was designed by a committee! 8O
It sort of looks like a 'disposable' phone. Well I'd dispose of it if I somehow ended up with it.

I wonder why there's so much "wasted" space on the phone though... seems odd in a world of space maximizing designs...

Babblefish says this about this phone, which I have no idea what it means, but there are some better pictures at the link referenced for the rumor:
Survey/coverage Of the Gsm- telephone Of sonyErichsson Of tey0
The company Of sonyErichsson traversed the heavy time, when it was simultaneously necessary to form/shape the new rule of telephones, to support the propagation of the old models of those reaching from Yerichsson and sones respectively.During the creation of the united company was accepted the solution about the fact that the new name indicates another approach in the creation of telephones.First of all this concerned the design of apparatuses, they simply became others. The first trial spheres in by something were successful, in by something not very, but the main thing, that the company searched for its face.Beginning from 2003 years such searches can be considered finished, together with the idea of the model Of tey0.

seriously i like the look
Me too! :D Possibly because I like the look of this (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7975). Anyway, I've never been a big fan of the new radical Nokia phones. I think that some of the button shapes and layouts look plain wierd. Here, there is a nice, solid design. Also, some of the cell phones nowadays are way too small to use.

You gotta keep in mind guys -- that the phone is from Orange (note the litthe logo on the bottom) -- this phone's color scheme is merely the colors of Orange; namely white and orange.
That being said, this phone is still ugly. I hope there's a rational explanation for that bulge at the top -- maybe it's a super-thin phone that has the battery on top instead of on the side? <shrug>
But the bulge reminds me of the antenna on the i705.

8O OK - so who hit this thing with the ugly stick? 8O
Own up - that was not a hit, it was a severe beating!

Well, to be precise, the Ericsson designers, who had finally gotten a clue after all their failures, were merged in with the Sony designers, who have a different notion of "stylish".
I have to say, though, the P800 is decently stylish. Not a huge fan of the blue-white, but it trumps this anyday.

Esato http://esato.com/board/search.php?q=t310 contains even more posts on this...
And I don't think the T68i or T39m are bricks - I like mine!

 that is a fugly phone, I have a T-60, which a bit different, kind of egg-shaped and the T-68i isn't too bad looking, but this looks like it was designed in like 30 s.

I think Brian is implying (and I most certainly am) that the T28, T39 and T68 were great aesthetically, but then it took a nosedive after the SE venture. The T39 and T68 are superbly stylish. My T68 (gold! ;)) still attracts glances on occasion.

What's an "ugly stick"? If this mythical stick actually exists, I know a few people who certainly have come across it...

Yes I was saying they are easy on the eyes. I loved my t39 and now love my t68 (Design and function). I've kept it longer than any other phone I've ever had.

Pass - I've just heard US friends talking about people being hit with an 'Ugly stick'. Nice image. Anyone care to share where the sating came from?
I do agree though - this phone looks like a refugee from the 70's.

I don't think this phone is gonna look like that on the photo. If you look closely at the bottom of the phone, you can see Orange. This phone (or at least this colour) is clearly Orange exclusive!!
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-t310-en.shtml
This has been posted above, but I thought I'd re-podt it as it shows a different colour scheme, and being held in a hand. Looking at it closely I'd say that whoever thought it might be quite thin was probably right. It looks about the size of a T68 (maybe a little bit taller, and wider at the bottom) and half to two-thirds as thick.
Frankly though, I don't care what a device looks like, it's its size and functionality that matters. Also with BT (though this looks like it won't have BT) and hands free, a phone is rarely out of my pockets unless I'm playing games on it (or don't have my pDA or hf kit with me - e.g. on a big night out). In those situations a phone looking like that is far less likely to get mugged for it
Anyway, apparently this is one of a range of phones to be announced on Monday, so we shall see the full details then, I suppose.

If it is, I wouldn't care if it were yellow with hot pink daisys. I would get one if it were a tricorder. :)
