I have a problem that is not necessarily specific to Toshiba... but here it goes anyway:

When I'm browsing the net on my Pocket PC, some web pages (one in particular) give me an error message, saying something to the effect of "you must be running the latest version of Internet Explorer to view this page." I assume I'm getting this because the web page doesn't recognize the Pocket PC version of Internet Explorer. Is there any way to "trick" system and access this web page?

Try this: RegKing (http://www.cewindows.net/applications/regking.htm)

Or this: PHM Registry Editor (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/)

Good point, and it can be found here (http://www.pc-counselor.8m.com/downloads.htm)...

Okay, I would like to be able to access certain sites that check for 128 bit encryption.
I know MS has a patch for PocketPC 2000 to add 128 bit to PIE, but what about PocketPC 2002? Anyone know if there's a way to add 128 bit encryption?

Why not try using a better (err different) web browser such as Thunderhawk from Bitstream. I use it all the time and do not have these problems -- and it is MUCH faster, not to mention the 640x480 *actual* (not virtual) resolution.

Yes, I'm a big fan of ThunderHawk, too. It's the only PPC Web browser that works with the Bank of New York's online banking system. Neither PIE nor Netfront works regardless of registry fiddling.

Yea, but I'm not sure if I'm too fond of paying $15.00/month.

I believe it's built into Pocket PC 2002.

There are two things you need in order to access certain types of sites: encryption and a recent version of Explorer. If you're unable to access some sites, it's because that site thinks Pocket Internet Explorer is actually Internet Explorer v.3.0. Using the tweaks mentioned above should work.

Paying $15/month for what?

Unless I'm confused, thunderhawk requires a subscription...I checked out Bitstream's site, and here's what it said....
My mistake, it's 50.00/year....still don't really want to pay annually for software...

ThunderHawk is a full-featured wireless Web browser for Pocket PCs. It gives you complete wireless access to real Web pages.

Availability
ThunderHawk is available at an annual subscription rate of $49.95. But with a 30-day free trial, why not take it out for a test drive?

Yes, ThunderHawk does cost $50 a year, but to my mind it's worth it. It's as fast as a desktop browser and can do things
no other PPC browser can do. In fact, I'm using it right now to post
this message!
