Jolly good. But I do wish that the Laridian engine was faster. I don't see why with 64meg of RAM and a 400MHZ processor I should wait 3 to 6 seconds to go from one chapter to another!

Their variety of commentaries, handbooks, daily readers, and Bibles makes this a very attractive opportunity to add useful materials at a saving.

As an owner of many of their products, I can truthfully say that they are easy to use and they are very useful. I only wish that this bundle offer had been available when I made my prior purchases.

Spending $50 or more may sound like a lot, but these are Bibles and reference tools you'll use for many years. Laridian's support is outstanding and they even make it easy for me to re-download any files I may have lost.

These are the FIRST things I load back onto my Pocket PC after doing any kind of hard reset or maintenance.

If only they had Greek!

If you download the New American Standard Exhaustive Concordance, you can view Strong's numbers. With the additional downloads of the New American Standard Exhaustive Concordance Greek Dictionary and the Hewbrew Dictionary, you can click on the Strong number and look at the original Greek and Hebrew words.

You can download the Greek version at :

http://www.olivetree.com/

They also have a number of good free bibles.

Hope this helps,
Nathan

Thanks guys. I have Laridian's NASB w/ Strong's but I'd actually like to get a real Greek text. I'm kind of suprised that olivetree has so many versions (and lots of free ones), but Lardian only has a select few.

Olive Tree also has a WAP edition that you can access from your cell phone! I have a SPRINT PCS VISION phone and it works great (and its free)

GodBib.com -on your cell phone.

I second this, with an interlinear option! Where's Craig when you need him?

If you dont need them, try turning off footnotes. It is still not instant, but it makes a huge difference :)

I'm here.

Sorry about the slight delay when you "turn the page" in PocketBible. If you don't mind, I'll blame it on Microsoft. We use their code to display our HTML... same code that's in Pocket IE. It's not speedy but it gives us ClearType and some other advantages.

Regarding all the Bibles at OliveTree: They've done a good job of working on a wide variety of public domain and foreign language Bibles. We've taken a more focused approach and provide the Bibles that people actually use. For example, if you want the NIV, we have it. If, on the other hand, your pastor preaches from the Bible in Basic English or you grew up memorizing the Bible in Esperanto and just can't read any other version, then OliveTree is the place to go.

We also have reference content that you won't find anywhere else. You can expect us to develop more Bibles and more reference content. Beyond that we don't talk about what we may or may not do in the future.

Thanks for the feedback and thanks to those of you who pinged me to tell me about this thread.

Thanks darrylb thats a good idea. Footnotes off does speed things up but with the ESV they are the best bit .

But Craig
a) How many people use Cleartype? Its lousy on the Ipaq! I turn it off ASAP.

b) But Olive Tree do the NET Bible: it isn't a perfect implementation but it works and its an awesome resource. Any chance of a Laridian version?

Anyway I use both Olive Tree and Laridian but when I'm in a hurry its Olive Tree.

But both are a blessing.

ClearType is what sets Pocket PC apart from Palm, and in fact sets Pocket PC apart from any desktop LCD display I've seen. It's gorgeous. It's what makes e-book reading tolerable. The iPAQ may not implement it correctly. Seems like I've seen some utilities to "fix" the iPAQ to really do ClearType right. But on every device I've had (HP, Toshiba, Casio) it looks fantastically fantastic. I often turn the font size all the way down to its smallest size and it looks great (and my vision isn't all that great at 40+). (I have an iPAQ but don't run PocketBible on it -- it's part of a Nexrad weather system in my airplane.)

We don't talk about what we may or may not be doing or planning to do but we appreciate your suggestions.

Great on the 3800 with the new ROM or all 3900's. I love CT.

That may be the best place to have a bible handy.

I went to the Laridian website and I saw that you can add notes via a clipboard and Pocket Word. I was wondering if this product or any other allows you to highlight verse text and then with a click, insert and retrieve a note that you may put on the verse. Thanks.

No highlights, but you can insert a new note for a verse and format the note with HTML, including links to other verses or even attach images. Check out what I've added to 2 Cor 5:16.

Our preacher passed out those chain links when he did a sermon on this. Visual images speak a thousand works, so I took a pic of it and added it to my note. Notes are at the bottom of the page between the last verse in the chapter and the included footnotes, so you can scroll down to look or just tap the word NOTE and jump to it.

wow, I didn't know the footnotes made such a huge difference! I'm getting a 30-40% improvement. .That's a great tip! thanx..

I really like the notes feature. But it'd be nice to have a few more buttons.. especially for the
.. I'm having to copy and paste that EVERYTIME I take notes. Also, this may be asking much, but it'll be nice if the integrated html note interface will allow us to save the note as an attachment html. I understand we can use an external HTML program... but it'll be nice for something integrated. That way, we can use the View Two books feature and have the verse right on top as we look at the verse.. instead of having to jump back and forth. It'd also help in loading the pages... which is a concern for many.

Oh yeah, Whatever happened to the pop up .. quick look up box? I'm dying for that feature. ;)

Clear type is AWESOME on the ipaq 5450...!!!
