I think I should read a review to figure it out. Great app, but just like overclocking on desktop PCs, it's a dark art full of mystery...how have you found this app so far?

If you haven't tried it yet, you can download a trial version (affiliate), but you'll need to purchase it for $9.99 in order to change the speeds on your device (or perhaps it just confused me in the trial mode).

I have had the program since version 1.53 and he has improved it every day. You must buy it though for it to work in terms of the overclocking. The other feaures are usefull as well such as dll usage. He is very willing to email you and responds very quickly. Today1-27-03 version 1.92

I tried XCPUScalar, and although it's less rich in features it does have the XSCALE settings.
An interesting feature of the demo is that it actually changes the speed, but only allows you to do it 10 times. Because Hack Master doesn't have such a feature I haven't tried it yet.
I've noticed some speed improvement, but all very non-scientifical: using PIE for instance seems smoother now.

I don't think that it broke the record on PocketMatrix. "The Library Girl" thread in the Anything section was on page 165, last time I checked. And there are for sure at least 10 posts per page at PocketMatrix. The thread is about Paul (a guy who visits PocketMatrix a lot) and his relationship (or non-relationship ;) ) with a girl he saw at the library. It goes off from there to a whole lot of conversations about dating and other more random stuff.
Oh, I almost forgot! I use SpeedStepper for overclocking. It's free. And so am I, to any pretty Library girlz out there! ;)

LOL - could you post a link to that Pocket Matrix thread? Sounds like a funny read.
I'd like to buy HackMaster when it has the feature that automatically adjusts the speed depending on the processor demands of the application(s) you're currently running. Very tiresome to scour that thread daily to see whether that feature has been implemented or not.

Pocket Hack Master Breaking Brighthand Records?
When I first read that I thought a hacker with the handle "Pocket Hack Master" had broken into Brighthand's membership records.

it already has that feature ;) and let me tell you it's awesome! even the scale mode is total customizable as at to what speed to be set at @ different process usages... you should definitly check it out. It's even got a color coded tray icon to show you what stage your processor is at!
Next on the list is VCORE adjustments, so you can either bring it to an all time low to save A LOT of battery life or to max it out and put your ppc into overdrive @ possibly 600+ Mhz... the sky's the limit for now ;)
BTW Jason, you can OC your Dell (400 model) to 500 safley w/ the settings 27,2,2.5 (LMN), or at least that's what people have been getting... expect better results later when we get VCORE adjustments (it would display 497 Mhz in the Change To button).
If you buy this you know the developer is devoted to this project, and he's always improving it (like 92 times in the last week or so ;)). Got any problems/questions, post to that thread above and someone or Anton will most likely answer your question, promptly (like probably 20 minutes w/in posting time ) Anton is in Europe so he's after 5 and awakens around 1 or 2 AM (CST).
He's working on a user manual/documentation right now to explain the program.
And no, i'm not his advertiser- I just love this program and love testing out each setting. You should see what happens to my Asus @ 3.3GHz  soft reset get's it right out though (if you have a e740, it'll probably hard reset though).

If you want to try and win a copy of Pocket Hack Master, you can enter to win one on our site. We don't have any entries at the moment so you have a pretty good chance of getting it...

Also, yeah, while Pocket Hack Master does allow you to push your PocketPC to 3320, I can't break about 499ish with my iPaq 5455. I think I need to increase the core volage to get it higher. Also, the RAM seems very finnky and tends to freeze the device as I overclock.

Let's keep this on the topic of Pocket Hack Master, shall we? (or at the very least the Brighthand thread). Discuss Pocket Matrix threads over on Pocket Matrix please. ;-) (a few posts deleted here, feel free to chat in the off-topic forum if you want)

Uhhh... no money, but with SpeedStepper set to 472MHz, I get 118MHz for Mem/LCD on PocketHackMaster. When I get a chance I think I'll get it. It looks great for overclocking! I mean, you can control either the frequency or the multipliers (or both)! I like it.

Oh, yeah. I forgot to say that I have an e740.

OK, if I might jump in and be a total pessimist here for a second:
Just a reminder of a lesson I learned all to well back in the days when I was really in to PC Hardware. Overclocking is DANGEROUS. Keep in mind, all cpus (even those that are of the same type and mhz) are different and just because something works on someone elses machine doesn't necessarily mean it will work on yours.
Beyond that, it can easily ruin your device if it doesn't (and will probably shorten the lifespan even if it does).
That said, it is a neat little program :)

Of course. But the risk of frying your cpu is very limited when you are using a low-power cpu to start out with. If you mod the voltage to higher than normal, there's a much more real risk. Right now, though, you can't do that. That might change by tomorrow (at the rate Anton is developing PocketHackmaster, no lie). Right now your biggest significant risk is a hard-reset, which isn't bad if you have a backup handy.
