It will count down the days up to your chosen setting. As soon as you're within the 24 hour range, T- Day Counter will change to hour mode. Once the deadline has passed, T- Day Counter will start counting the elapsed time. T- Day Counter supports both Pocket PC 2000 (SH3, MIPS and StrongARM processors) as well as Pocket PC 2002 devices (StrongARM and XScale processors). Novosec's POCKET facelift skinning software is automatically detected and T- Day Counter will switch to Pocket PC 2002 appearance on Pocket PC 2000 devices."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.handango.com/include/pictures/255355/tminus.gif" /><br /><br />My fellow MVP Marc Zimmerman wrote this very simple, but very cool little Today screen applet, that does one thing: it counts down the days until a certain event. Perfect for the pleasure-delayers among us! :D The current Handango download counter is at 20. Let's see that "Thoughts Effect" in action, shall we? Download ye hordes, download!

Not bad, folks, not bad...

The download counter (the internal more accurate one in the developer section) is jumping quickly and increases by about 2 per minute. It's at 69 right now.

It seems quite a few people have given the app back - the counter is now at 12.  Hard to trust a counter that doesn't work! Hopefully the developer one works better!

Awesome! Marc must be reading my mind.

I was watching the TimeLeft http://www.timeleft.info/ that I have running on my desktop at work today and thinking that I needed something similar for my PPC. I come home from work and look what PPCT has found for me. And its Free!

Thanks Marc.

This is neat! Every time I say I can't load another app. on this device, somebody comes up with something I just can't resist. Thanks, Jason.

I read the readme file but I haven't figured out yet how to configure it to begin counting from a certain date. I tapped the plane icon and nothing happens when you do that. Am I missing something?

Appreciate any advice.

You have to go to Start|Settings|Today, then pick the app and hit Options.

It looks like I may be the only one having a problem setting the counter. I have gone to the Today page, highlighted the T- Day Counter, and hit options but nothing happens. Any idea what the problem is?

Great little app - great to see the PPC community growing in this way. The amount of freeware around for the Palm was one of the reasons it grew in popularity so fast.

Counter was over 330 when I got my copy

So Marc, When would you like the suggestions to start rolling in on version 2?

I'd like to have:

1. Multiple cute little icons depending on the type of "event" I'm waiting for.

and

2. A little text section so I can put a little description of the event, like "vacation", or "Inlaws visiting" (blech!)

Great program!!!!!

And with the new version of Dashboard, its AWESOME!!!

I can't set the date (using OPTIONS from the Today Settings) unless I disable battery Pack 2003 before...

Anyone else?

I am also using Battery Pack 2003 on my iPaq 3630 and did not have any issues with the T-Day app - it runs great, came right up as soon as I loaded it. I am also using Nice Start 2.0 and it behaves well with that.

Thanks Marc!

This application is totally useless on my PPC !!!

I have installed it - and it seems to work fine...... however,

Upon installation & soft reset - it causes my e740 to have the dreaded white text problem in the today fields and in the start menu! :!:

Uninstall, from today, go to settings uninstall, soft reset, and uninstall again to purge it from my e740 and the white text problem goes away.

Most likely a DLL issue with the e740! :?:

I really want this as my wife is due in a couple of months and the count down would be a great reminder & help in the planning stages.

Can it be fixed??

Marc:

Since it's freeware, I have no complaints.

I would like to make a few requests, and am ok if they don't happen (since this is obviously done in your spare time for fun), and I'm also ok with paying for it to get these. :)

1. Ability to define multiple dates. I'd like to set a date for Superbowl, Valentine's Day, etc.

2. Ability to only count weekdays (working days). I'm a Senior in High School, and graduation is I don't know how many actual days away, but it's like in 87 school days. If I could set it to only count weekdays, I could put in the date of graduation (which is, coincidentally, the date of my 18th Birthday - two huge events on the same night) and know how many days til graduation. Of course, if one and two are both implimented, I'd want the ability to cosse which events count all days vs. weekdays, so have some events (i.e. Valentine's day) count both weekends and weekdays, and others (graduation) count weekdays.

3. The ability to name an event. i.e. say instead of "Right now, 21 days to go until 2/14/03" say "21 days to go until Valentines Day" (and have the Valentines Day be big and bold like the 21 days to go is, and the right now seems unnecessary to me).

Again, I realize that you do this in your free time, so I expect none of this. But it would be really nice. :) :)

Thanks,
arebelspy

Alright, thanks for all your kind comments. The download count has just passed 550 - awesome!

I have successfully tested the applet on Jornada 548 (with and without facelift), Cassiopeia E-200, iPAQ H3875 and o2 xda. Unfortunately, I don't have a Toshiba e740 (or any other XScale based device) at this time but I should get my hand on an Axim X5 next month.

If you have problems with T-, please try disabling other Today plugins and skinning tools such as WISBar and see if this makes a difference. If it does, please take a minute to send me a message with this information.

Icon selection and custom text features are right on top ot the list for future enhancements, along some other neat stuff... ;-)

arebelspy, your suggestions are interesting. I'll toss them around in my head...

Is there any way to change the text "Right now"? By registry hack for example?

You may also want to look at an app called DoobloDates (http://www.dooblo.com) which will satisfy requirements 1 and 3.

The downside is that it's not free and it doesn't display on your today screen (unlike Marc's great applet).

Found one for you:

T-Day will not work as long as PocketPlus is active. T-Day will show up on the screen and it appears to be working from there, but you can not select Options from the Settings Menu as long as PocketPlus is active. Turn it off and T-Day works fine.

I need to investigate the potential conflicts with other third party applets, such as Pocket Plus. SuperAlert or TodaysInfo. It does coexist happily with GPRS Monitor, though.

Unfortunately, this weekend is pretty crammed with appointments so that it will take until some time next week to find out more.

Here's my list of potential enhancements so far:
- different counting modes (standard, hours, days)
- customizable images
- customizable descriptions
- tap plugin to configure
- ability to define multiple dates
- ability to only count weekdays (working days)
- use next appointment in calendar
- link to calendar item

I actually just down loaded the program to see what it would look like and thought that I would remove it in a couple of days.

WRONG!!!!!! If you were to add these features I think this would be a daily user for me!! (Oh, and fix the confilct with PocketPlus  )

Now I see real potential for this program on my Tdy screen. The link to calendar item and use next appointment sound real interesting. Have the countdown to the next appt., tap the screen and be able to view what it is! Good luck!! :rock on dude!:

Well, strange thing. Just after posting the problem with PocketPlus I was able to run both programs with no conflicts. I thought all was well.

Today I went to change the count down date in T-Day and found that again I could not open it. I've got some time this morning to play around with it and I'm going to try and duplicate the problem/solution and post whatever I find.
