http://devastation3.com/varium/index.html

Dan East, of Dexplor and Pocket Quake fame, is working on a next-generation mobile gaming engine, which will feature support for scripting, multiplayer, 3D worlds, audio, and bots. The first product coming out of this effort will be a collection of games ("themes") including 1940's-style, futuristic and comic combat scenarios for Pocket PCs. Check out the video while you're there. Kudos to the team, which also includes Andie Clarke, Randall Schleufer, and Jason Surguine, all of Snails fame.

There is a software demo (via video) that really blew my socks off in terms of potential gameplay. If the gameplay is as good as the looks, this engine will be a real winner.

I never thought this kind of game with this level of graphics was even possible on mobile devices...

I watched both demo videos on my pocket pc and the sound is unbelievable. Also notice that the demos are dated in October and November, so by now the game is probably much better. It says release Q1 2003.

All I can say is WOW. It just shows how amazingly talented these guys really are!

I cant wait to see this become released! This will most probably become the future of PDA Gaming!

Impressive.

I've been out of the PPC gaming scene for a while, but I do notice that we have had an infusion of 3D games being introduced. Do any of them play smoothly on the PPC? I remember trying Chopper Alley a while back, but found it to be quite choppy (uh, no pun intended)...

Cool graphics! Combine that with online and multiplayer... then we're talking! :)
