Company president Dixon Cheng said that Wistron would launch a wireless PDA in the second quarter and plans to launch two different smartphones in the second and third quarters, with one model using an operating system from Microsoft. Cheng did not disclose whether the other model would use rival software from Symbian."

This company looks like a major player.... and they make the Xbox too... hmm I am hopiung for good things. We will have to keep an eye on them.

Just hope they do not leave out CDMA carriers.

Hmm...and Dell plans to launch a wireless PDA this year, which is also being manufactured by Wistron. I wonder if these two products are one and the same?

Uh....yeah, I was going to add that thought but my fingers were a few steps ahead of my brain. That's what I think Wistron is talking about!

Are you guys sure that's what they are talking about.... 300,000 while being a rather large number I find it a little on the short side if you talk about total PDA shipments. I would have to think that Dell will rival that on their own. I know they didn't saying anything like this, but isn't it possible that they are talking about their own branded unit? Something just doesn't seem to jive for me.

I'm assuming that Wistron is shipping other PDA's as well?

This could be a real brawl, if Wistron sells a single PDA/Phone with either PPC Phone edition OS OR Symbian OS at the buyers discretion. We could get a real comparison of power, stability, battery life, and a lot more. That would be LOT of fun for us watchers.

From what I read, if Wistron was planning on making a lot of Xboxes, they probably have a factory line or two empty as the X Box is not selling near where it was expected to. Or does someone know better than me on that?

In any case, it appears Wistron is one hungry manufacturer and that will be good for consumers.
