Is there any way to make transcriber suggest correct spellings?

Hello, forum... :)

It would be nice if transcriber suggested spelling corrections as does keyboard entry on ppc2002, i.e. a dropdown list of suggestions under incorrectly recognised words. This would save have to re edit.

Anyone know if this is already possible, upgrade, add-on, etc?

On the Transcriber toolbar, click the Help (?) button and select "Microsoft Transcriber Gestures" from the list. Among the gestures listed is a quick down-and-back-up stroke which will pop up a menu with suggested words or alternate spellings. Amazingly enough, the correct word is almost always listed. The other gestures come in very handy, too; once you get them down, Transcriber is even better!

For what it's worth, aside from Dave's excellent point, Transcriber automatically uses the dictionary to help in recognizing your writing; that's why it gets the word right so often. If you have decent handwriting, you'll notice how much better it is at English words than, say, proper nouns like people's names (especially if they're not frequently-used names, like mine :))

:D Thanks Dave for your advice... this is really quite good once you master the gesture... Whilst i'm on a good run do you know of a way to add to/edit the dictionary?

Haven't used Transcriber for a while and thought it had that, but Calligrapher certainly does. You select how many characters to wait before it suggests and then how many words to suggest.

No, I am not aware of a way to edit that.

I don't know about Transcriber, but I know that you can add words to the dictionary for Calligrapher

Calligrapher/Transcriber use the same dictionary as the other input methods. So, if there's a word you want to add, simply do a spell check and select the ADD option.

Unfortunately, the Pocket PC spell check dictionary is lost every time you do a soft reset (UGH!). So, any additions will be temporary.
