My WMP just stopped working. Doesn't open, I just get a spinning hourglass/dial and then nothing.

No MP3, WMA, or WMV movies are on my device. I had been watching a DVD movie I converted to WMV, stopped it did some other things, went back and WMP would not start.

Fiddled with memory settings, soft reset device, deleted the movie, nothing.

What happened? Anybody?

Thanks,

Try this :

(For XDA users with Windows Media issue, cannot start)

This issue was previously discussed, and the previous solution is a painful hard reset!, which if you do not have a backup, u need to reinstall everything again...

Solution:
Use a registry editor, goto \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys. This is where you have hardware button mapping. You should only have 2 keys there (Mine is named 40C1 and 40C2).

If you have the window media issue, you should find another key there, which was put by some other softwares installation, for e.g. Fonix voice central.

Delete the key, and the window media should work again.

But my impatience got the better of me and I did a hard reset already. I needed to give the system a good enema anyway, I'm off work today so what the heck.

I do appreciate the help and I'll file for the future.

PS: I had just recently put Fonix iSpeak on the device so this was probably the problem.
