This looks very cool... but beware, on Handango it is listed as Beta, so if you use your PIM functions for something critical you might want to think twice before using this product, at least initially.

Doubt this will replace PI or AF... but hey, some new PPC users should really get a kick out of it.

The biggest point to this is another alternative for a PIM. The developer has said he will further develop if users are interested.

Hey, I like PI and AF but another option is always welcome.

This looks like a decent start.

This looks great. You know what they say about small acorns ! Let's hope it's developed further.

if i use this software, can i still use my original PIM

Does this require that I install the .NET framework on my PDA. I had assumed that to run .NET applications I would need to install something specific (and large) from Microsoft.

Yes, you can still use the existing apps as this will read and write to the actual contacts/appointments/tasks databases.

jason,

Yes, you need the .NET framework. It is included in the download.

I've always said that PI and AF are amongst two of the PPCs best developed apps. I have heard quite a few people say though that both are WAY overkill for what they want, while the basic ppc outlook is pretty pathetic, so I think this app fills a much needed area of what MS really should have provided with the basic OS... and hey, definitely can't argue free...

The .Net framework is included in a separate Cab.

My main problem with this software so far is that contacts who are listed by first name only (I don't know their last names)- appear as Blank area on the screen instead of just showing the one name they have. Good product though. Its kinda slower than the built in apps- but that is on strongarm.

well remember it is a beta so this could help developers to improve better capabilities and functionality.. i love PI but my developer heart talk to me and say .net CF works!

I would like a small app that adds just one view to the built-in calendar: a Week view similar to that in the desktop version of Outlook. It shows 7 days in boxes with the appointments visible. PI and AF have that view but I don't need all their other features -- just this view. If it were built into Pocket Outlook I wouldn't need any add-on PIM.

Pocket Day doesn't offer this view and it isn't a very small app. But I did install it and it appears to be nicely done. I didn't focus on what, if anything, it added of value to the built-in apps because I was looking for my Week view, didn't find it and so removed the app.

Is it just me, or do a these .net apps seem to run slower? Everyone I've seemed to try so far just seems like we are going backwards.

Folks,

Thanks for the kinds words, suggestions, etc. I plan on making PocketDay the easist and one of the best PIMs out there. I'm always working on performance, etc. so that will only get better.

Looking for suggestions, etc. to make the product even better.

Hi

I have just installed and I am really impressed with the week view. Really great feature. Only thing is my times display as 10:000 - 11:000 - i.e. I get an extra zero. I have an iPAQ 3850 running ROM 1.20 and SP3.

Martin,

In your Regional Settings, what is your time format and what is the time separator?

Mark

I went to regional settings and changed the date format from 24 hour to 12 hour - i.e. AM and PM. Display is much better now. What I must do is get a little screen shot utility - I used to have MagicSS and it did the business. Easier to explain problems with pictures than language!

Mark, the software looks great. It's a real boon to know that there's a dedicated developer behind this product. So far Pocket Day seems more stream lined then PI and AF. Note to all dev's sometimes less is better. As for those that are concerned about the apparent speed, I would suggest looking into oc'ing as a possible solution. Keep up the good work and I'll second the request for a link to the update.
