Ok, so that isn't exactly what Shakespeare said, but it's close enough. Over the next week you'll see some new names appearing on the front page. Say hello to the Pocket PC Thoughts Review Team! That's right, we're no longer just a "news and views" site - watch out you other Web sites, we're right on your tail!

I'm thrilled to have two-dozen inquisitive minds willing to sift through the mounds of Pocket PC software and hardware in order to bring you the best bang for your buck. They'll also be contributing informative columns, but don't worry - the flame-bait posts will still come from the same crew you know and love/loathe.

Pocket PC Thoughts Review Team, please take a bow! :way to go:

UPDATE: We're not accepting any further members to the review team at this time. From about 250 or so interested people, I recieved 60 or so trial reviews, and from those I picked the best 24. It was a long process, and I'm really happy with the team, so I don't want to add any new members at this time. If a few slots do open up, I'll be sure to announce it on the front page again.

Great News. Reviews have been the only thing that PPCT did not have.

I guess I can delte all of those bookmarks for other PPC Sites from my Favourites List.

Bring on the Reviews!

Cool! How were the "reviewers" selected? Are they volunteers, or were they chosen by the Admins? :?:

Weeeeeel, I sometimes hit the front page to find that every article is new and I need to go to the archives - after missing 1 day!

It is GREAT to have so much news (and reviews now :P), but would it be posible to make the front page hold 2 days of info? I know it may not be due to the server load & bandwidth, but, pretty please? :D

That's great guys. This site already has more updates in a day than most others in a month.

With more reviews it can only get even better.

I just thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kevin Remhof and I'm from Dayton, Ohio. I started using a Palm III back in 1998. I then got in the Palm VII Field Trial and used that for a while. But, I got bored with the Palm OS and thought I'd try out a Pocket PC. I picked up an iPaq 3765 late in 2000 and haven't looked back.

I'm always on the lookout for new apps to try out. I really like to see what cool things the Pocket PC can do. Sometimes it's games, sometimes it's PIMs. It depends on my mood.

When I'm not playing with gadgets, I like to ride rollercoasters. I'm a proud member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (http://www.aceonline.org) and make it to at least a couple of events every year.

Well, that's about it for now. I'm thrilled to be a part of the Thoughts Review Team. This is my favorite Pocket PC site and it's going to be fun to be a part of the action.

Hi World -

First, I would like to thank Jason for the opportunity to be a member of the Pocket PC Thoughts Review Team. Like you, I frequent many Pocket PC web sites (or used to  ) searching for the latest news and information. I am very excited about what Jason has done and continues to do with the site. I personally consider it one of the top sites on the 'net both for the quality and timeliness of the information and news available!

I trust that my input as a Review Team Member only adds to the overall content value and rockets this site to the number one Pocket PC destination site on the internet. I for one will do my utmost to accomplish this goal.

I encourage you to challenge me, question me, and I guess the occasional flame :onfire: (in good taste) wouldn't hurt either. I welcome your feedback, opinions, and participation.

about me ...

I am an Ex-HP/Compaq iPAQ team member from pre-iPAQ 3600 series days. A naturalized US citizen with British parents who has lived in the Caribbean (Jamaica, Cayman, Trinidad), UK, Europe, Australia, and Singapore. Married without children.

I am sure that you will enjoy the reviews from fellow Pocket PC Thoughts Review Team members!

warmest regards,
Chris Hendriks

Uh, HEY!

Glad to be part of the party.

I've been using a Pocket PC since my first machine, a B+W Nino. What a great machine that was. And these days, WOW! I currently use a Toshiba e550g. It has a 512 CF card, a Symbol WI FI card, a Cross micropen, and a new external 20 gig Archos hard drive connected via the USB port. So cool

I'm a real gadget freak. My wife has FINALLY learned not to ask "When did you get THAT toy", or "How much did THAT one cost", or my favorite "What are you going to use THAT for."

I just replaced my old Ericsson T80 with a brand spankin' new Sony/Ericsson T68i and a Jabra bluetooth headset. Can't WAIT to play (er, evaluate) this combo!

Anyway, I look forward to not only helping to provide everyone on this great site with insightful information on the latest and greatest, but also to be in mix and on the forums talking to everyone about how they use their stuff and what problems they run into.

Oh you couldn't be more wrong... After all I'm in the mix.

Lordy, lordy, do I really need to do an introduction? Ok, just the brief one...

30 years old, happily married to the most amazing woman ever to walk the face of the planet. Blessed with a 7 year old daughter who is too smart for her own good, and just found out that we have another kid in the oven.

PDA user for 13 years. From a cheapo, throwaway digital phonebook for all of my pre-marriage chicks digits, to a Sharp Wizard, to a TI Avigo, to a Palm IIIx. In Feb. 2001, the day before my birthday, I won the PocketNow iPAQ Grand Prize. A shiny new iPAQ 3630 was all mine and a tons of new toys. 1.5 years later I bought a Toshiba e740, and returned it a week later for an iPAQ 3975 which I have now.

My use profile would be that of a "power-user" and mobile writer. As a stay-at-home Dad/writer/weekend electronics associate my iPAQ never leaves my side.

Oh yeah, and I am the Vice President of our Phoenix Area Pocket PC Club.

Whew! How dry and boring can you get?

Well, hell...might as well introduce myself also and break out of my former lurker shell.

As you can see, I have a rather silly name...it's all part of an insidiously evil master plan, I assure you. I'm 34 and a leo and love long walks on the beach and staring at the sun until my eyes burn out.

Okay, that's silly too.

At any rate, I've been a computer/gadget geek for almost 20 years now ever since my first computer, an Atari 400 that I still have tender dreams of (and emulate on my PDA). I'm currently in a deep committed relationship with my iPAQ 3835 after escaping the Palm trap sometime last year. You'll probably see me posting mainly game reviews, as since I spend too damned much time playing them I might as well write about them. Despite what my family might say, I also use my iPAQ for just about everything from keeping track of finances to reading ebooks.

In other words...hi!

I've gotten into the habit lately of just running through the forums instead of checking the front page. I was wondering why we were suddenly seeing posters with the "Thoughts Review Team" label (though I did remember Jason's call for reviewers a little while back).

Welcome all. Looking forward to the great reviews... and me undoubtedly emptying my wallet some more after reading them...

Hmmm.... on second thought... GO AWAY!!!

Please. 8O 8O

PPCThoughs has takes giant leaps during the last year, great developement. I also welcome the review team, looking forward to read your nice, thorough reviews.

Just one thing, thought. I hope there is someone on the review team, who isn't a "gadget freak" and has a more down-to-earth approach to new gizmos. Gizmomania can get pretty ugly sometimes .. :D

Just a quick intro...

Whilst I'm also a gadget-freak/techie/geek/whatever, I don't have large amounts of money or time to indulge myself in this; I have to balance the needs of 'real-life' - the wife, the kids, the job, the DIY chores, other hobbies, etc. Many of you will know what I mean.

So I can't say I spend huge amounts of time on this stuff. However, I have been playing with computers for many years and have been in the software development industry for the past 15. I started my PDA life with a Psion Series 3, then tried a Palm, and settled on an iPAQ soon after they came out after being wowed by a demo.

I've been lurking on PPC Thoughts for almost 2 years - but simply haven't had time to post. So I'm hoping to give something back to the site by contributing to the review effort.

Thanks Jason for all your hard work in getting the review team up and running.

I picked up an iPaq 3765 late in 2000 and haven't looked back.

There must be a typo there, Kevin. The iPAQ 3700 series uses Pocket PC 2002, and wasn't even released until September or October of 2001. :-)

Hi all!

Officially, I work for the University of Pennsylvania as a network and systems administrator. I've been actively involved with development for handheld computers since 1997 as a founding partner of DejaVu Software, Inc. Obviously, I won't be reviewing any software that DejaVu Software pubslishes. ;)

I play with technology incessantly. When I'm not building networks, I'm doing systems administration and programming for Unix and Windows boxes, building circuits around microcontrollers, designing antennas for amateur radio or 802.11b use, or bicycling up and down the east coast (with some or all of the aforementioned technology in tow).

If you're a loyal PocketPC Thoughts reader, you should already know what my reviews are going to be like. The Targus Noteworthy keyboard for the e740 came my way the day after it was announced here, and the review (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5195&highlight=targus)
just couldn't wait for the review team to be put together!

Just about anything else that you might be interested in is covered on my personal web site, (http://binky.seas.upenn.edu/~jorj/) along with many things that you most certainly don't care about.

Steve,
You're right. I meant late 2001. Thanks for the correction!

Thanks for the warm greetings.

I used to watch my dad use his Casio to organize his PIM information. Every once in a while I would look up a phone number. He also had an organizer in his watch! Well, after graduating from college, I tested many organizers and liked the Sharp OZ-5500 the best.

Years later...

I started researching the Pocket PC world, wanted the iPAQ 3600 series but had the money for the Jornada 540. I bought this in July 2001. In November, thanks to Pocket PC Thoughts, I picked up an iPAQ 3635 for $222 after shipping. In September 2002, I upgraded to the iPAQ 3835. I tried the Toshiba e740 for a short time, but really did not use the wireless feature and missed my iPAQ! I currently own the iPAQ 3955, and love it!

I also look forward to the coming reviews from all the reviewers.
