It is a sad, heartbreaking tale of woe and terror. My iPAQ 3975(my beloved, and so aptly named "Mistress2") has developed a minor but nagging flaw... The almighty power button has fallen through the front bezel and no matter how much delicate poking and prodding I implement I can not reposition it. For the past 2 weeks I have sacrificed two of my application buttons to "<None>" and "Suspend.exe" in order to have some sort of control but it is getting to be too much for me to handle to see her like this.
Now I finally come to my question... In the past, especially with the 36xx iPAQs the repair service was notoriously... well, notorious. The refurbished units would come back with more problems than the defective device sent, even worse were exchange units arriving at the customer's door D.O.A. Eventually this stabilized somewhat under Compaq but it arose again during the merger.
So, for you who have had to deal with hp recently, how has the repair experience been? Did you receive a refurbished unit when the return arrived or was it your original? Was it in better condition than the one you sent or were there follow up problems.
My 3975 has been perfect in every other respect and I would hate to lose that which I have come to depend on. (Plus, as you can see from my signature below... I *need* a Pocket PC which is in perfect working order in order to do any of these exciting reviews which are to be forthcoming.)
TIA
