<Rant ON> Ok, I'm chucking my IPAQ 36xx for a new Pocket PC. I am so disappointed in the Battery life that it's time to rethink my purchase. I can't go a day without being plugged in, let alone a 2 hour flight and the checks along the way for directions, reservations, contacts etc. In addition to getting rid of the sleeve, I'm also ooking forward to more memory and an itegrated unit. <Rant OFF>

SOOOOOOOOO..... what device is recommended for long battery life? :? I'd love an itegrated CF slot, too. Am I asking too much? It's been a while since I've looked around, but I am SO ready. (And yes, I'm checking previous posts, newsgroups and review sites.)

Thx,
Lex

I own an iPAQ 3975 with 128MB thanks to Pocket PC Techs. But if you want CF and SD slots built-in try the Toshiba e740 plus integrated WiFi or the Dell Axim. Or get the new iPAQ 5455 also with integrated WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. if you have iPAQ accessories already and have the cash. Hope this helps.

I think the Axim 400mhz will be leaps and bounds better then your old 'paq. I think I read that they're getting 7 hours of battery life PLAYING MUSIC so yeah. Plus, beautiful screen. Of course, I really love my Maestro. Slimmer then Axim, SDIO compatible, Strong Arm...

Unless you want to go with a battery upgrade at PocketPCTechs, the Dell Axim seems to be where it's at right now.

It has a 1400mAh battery -- I believe it to be one of the largest currently available. the battery is also swappable so for those really long trips, you just bring two batteries -- the Dell cradle can charge an extra battery.

I've got the 300mhz Dell Axim, and playing WMA file off my CF card for the better part of 3hours only brings my battery down to around 75%. That's so much better than my old Ipaq3635 that would start crapping out after a couple of hours.

Not to mention that if you want you can get the massive (but ugly) 3500mAh battery for the Axim from Dell as well :)

All the iPaqs after the 37xx series became significantly better (I can probably play MP3s with the screen off for a good 6 hours before my first warning at 40%), but there is no PPC that comes close to measuring up to the Dell Axim. I've heard 10+ hours of performance.

This is basically a repeat of what other posters have said, but for battery life + integrated CF slot, Axim's your PPC. Comparable in size to your old PPC w/o the sleeve.

Actually, it's quite a bit thinner. I believe the iPaq+CF is nearly an inch thick.

I think that's why she said w/o the sleeve...

Argh! I'm losing it! I've been out of it all morning. :morning:

Well, in any case, the Axim is slightly larger than the iPaq (the iPaq is .62" thick), but in practice you're not going to notice much of a difference. That is, unless you use the bundled Dell case. (What do people use instead? I wish there was a Cover Pack-like thing...)

I'd say you should wait for the X7 to come out in around 2 months.

It'll probably have integrated wireless and everything else of the Axim X5's feature set. Although the X5's price could go down.

Btw: I thought the SD slot of the Axim was SDIO! Oh well, my mistake.
