<a href="http://www.nebraskagrocery.com/ch/the_cowboys/manuel.asp">Manuel de la Torre</a> is a hard-core Pocket PC user, and he needs a bit of support from his fellow Pocket PC users. You see, Manuel is a keyboard player <a href="http://www.cactushill.web.com">in a band</a> from Lincoln, Nebraska, named Cactus Hill. His band is in a contest to open for <a href="http://www.philvassar.com/">Phil Vassar</a>, and they need to get a few thousand of you to email the radio station with your votes. I wouldn't normally post on something like this, but after seeing how much Manuel uses his Pocket PC with his music, I thought it was pretty cool. They don't have any audio samples up on the Web site, so I can't tell you if they suck or not , but hey, check out this picture:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/manuel.jpg" /><br /><br />"I use my Pocket PC for a lot of other music-related stuff. I have a 128 MB SD card loaded with all of our practice songs, and I take it with me to every practice for reviewing purposes. I've used the Pocket PC to trigger special effects when we're playing live. I also built a "web site" specifically for the Pocket PC with all the songs we play, including beat, key, time signature, who sings what vocals, links to the lyrics, etc. I even bought a $500.00 car stereo so that I could connect the Pocket PC to it and listen to our practice songs while driving to our gigs (and also so that we could watch movies with full stereo sound). I use that poor thing for everything except taking a shower."<br /><br />So what are you waiting for? Send that email. ([email protected]?subject=Cactus Hill should open for Phil Vassar with 96KX!) (remember to leave the subject line unchanged, and only one message per email address - don't spam them!) I think Manuel deserves our support for bringing the worlds of music and PDAs <a href="http://www.manueldelatorre.com/pocketpc/index.htm">one step closer</a>. Good luck Cactus Hill!

Hello, everybody! I'm the musician-geek who asked Jason the tremendous favor of asking you guys to help me out. :) I just wanted to publicly thank Jason and all of you guys for the invaluable support you have given me and Cactus Hill. Jason, there are some mp3 files of the band right on the News section of our web site (http://www.cactushill.web.com), just in case anybody is curious to know if we suck or not. Anywho, may God bless you with new Pocket PCs!

I thought I was the only person in Lincoln, NE that owned a Pocket PC! Slowly but surely we're taking over the world.

I've been doing some evangelizing, and to this date I've converted the singer in the band and my girl here in Lincoln, plus some friends in Mexico. By the way, your web site rules! :werenotworthy: I visit it quite frequently. I would've never thought it was developed in Lincoln, NE (no offense to Lincolnites, but there are not that many web developers around here...). Keep up the good work! And yeah, we're taking over... Watch out, Palmsters...

Considering your musical preferences, your commendation is very appreciated. :D Here's a joke you may like: "Discourage in-breeding: Ban Country Music!" Thanks for your support, Paragon!

Not the most convincing speech I've ever heard Jason give... but eh, I'll vote.

I downloaded a couple of your MP3s and you guys definitely don't suck! Seriously, I'm impressed. I'm happy to send in a vote for you... I added a comment to the email that in selecting the opening band, they should ask themselves how many of the other bands have fans writing in from all over the world. I didn't bother to mention that I have no idea who Phil Vasser is!

Thanks a lot, Rob! Your vote counts for three!!! (I hope). I visited your web sites, and you have some amazing content and pictures there. Let's hope we still get to see the real deal for many more years.

I voted for Cactus Hill as well and I also have never heard of Phil Vasser.

Sounded like one of those "drive round in small circles" Nascar dudes to me.

It's nice to see that there are some applications for PPC in the music business as well.

Good Luck Manuel, I bet you guys are much better than old "who the heck is that" Phil.

Hello, Falk. There are a couple of programs out there, but I personally use Nyditot Virtual Display 3.01 (www.nyditot.com). I've been really happy with it, and it should work just fine on you Casio. Worth the money.

Cheers,

Mexico

I did not vote, as I did not hear other possible bands and I think it would be unfair then.

But I have to say that you are really good. I am no big fan of country/western/etc. (with some exceptions such as czech bluegrass musician Robert Krestan and his band - unfortunately I did not find any (legal) mp3 on the net), but I surely respect good music regardless of the style.

I just wanted to thank everybody for your help! In case you're interested, the voting results will be announced after 5PM at xzkx.com (http://www.kzkx.com) (I hope - they're announcing them on the radio at 5PM, so it's a safe assumption that they'll be posted on their web site as well). A reputable source informed us last night that we were indeed in position #1, so hopefully nothing changed today. Thanks again!!! You guys are awesome. :werenotworthy:
