How can I use an "HP VGA Out - PC card" through the CF slot on the Axim? How do I connect it to the CF slot and would I need drivers?

You can't.

The HP VGA PCCard only works on HP's old Jornada series... I would recommend the Voyager VGA CF-card :-)

Suggest?, or actually recommend. Wondering if you have one and like it. There are two other options I can suggest, Lifeview and Margi both have CF VGA solutions. I can't recommend any as I have not tried any of them. The Margi gets excellent reviews, but has one drawback IMHO. It only supports RGB output where the other two support S-Video and composite video as well. Haven't seen any recent comparison reviews on their output quality though.

Sven,

After two (unproductive) months of trying to get a sample of the new Lifeview CF card, I finally found it available on the Lifeview site and ordered one. I thought I might be able to get a deal on a sample, since I recommend a LOT of this kind of thing for client SFA efforts, but Lifeview isn't too interested in that, and their US leadership isn't real responsive, either. :?

At any rate, I had to choose the Lifeview product since it combines the remote capability of the Margi with the multiple output options of the Voyager. (Never know where folks will have to hook up.) It should be here early next week, and I'll be using it myself at a conference presentations w/o 26 JAN. I'll post a thorough review as soon thereafter as I can.

Check out this thread on PPC Passion: http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=136452#post136452. Looks like the FlyPresenter-CF is not ready for prime time. I just canceled mine, before they sent the email with final shipping charges.

BTW, who the hell can't calculate shipping charges during the order? Or takes more than 24 hours to send a follow-up message for approval of final charges? Or has the company president's number listed for online sales? I thought Lifeview was a decent-sized and reliable company. This should've tipped me off... :(

Yes, I have a Voyager VGA... not the new one with a remote control though...

It's great for demonstrating "normal" applications and Powerpoints, but no good for multimedia and CPU-demanding apps...

I use it all the time in my job :-)

I have a Voyager CF display kit. On a 32" Sony XBR fed with S-video it displays the iPaq's screen centered on a grey field (selectable) full height so that the display's image size is enlarged to about 14X28." Image is colorful and accurate (better than expected) but type is rather hard to read with the conversion to NTSF (common on all VGA displayed on a television) but not impossible. Simple, large type presentations would be more acceptable. Images are suprisingly impressive with brilliant color and good detail. Of course, an image that filled the screen and was LCD monitor sharp would be ideal, but not practical with the 240x320 original resolution.

Microsoft's Remote Desktop Display shows a much sharper Activesync routed image on a monitor, but heavily pixelated and much poorer resolution of graphics and photos.

I bought the Voyager kit used for $85.00 and am very pleased with it at that price. Full retail would make me pause to be sure I REALLY needed iPaq screen displaying. But it is very cool having it at the ready.
