<a href="http://www.dell.com">http://www.dell.com</a><br /><br />If you want a 400MHz Axim, normally $299 after the $50 rebate, go to Dell and search for 4001YR in the Home Office category.<br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/hansberry/2003/20030114-aximdiscount.gif" /><br />After you add it to your cart, you'll have a $40 discount in addition to the $50 rebate, bringing the price down to $259, plus shipping and taxes.

Hmmm...I have a friend who is ready to order TODAY. I went to the site, put 4001YR in the search, and got the usual price of $349 with a $50 rebate. What am I missing??? I know that Dell had a 10% offer that expired yesterday (13th)...could that have been the deal?

Nice :D
But it doesn't work on Dell.ca :(

It applies the $40.00 discount when you go to the checkout.

The bad news is that the shipping date is listed at 3+ weeks!! What's with that?

Great, I just ordered mine 2 days ago. But I did get 10% off all accessories, so it isn't that big of a difference.

Does anyone know how long these take to ship out. My order status shows something like early to mid February. Does it really take that long?

You have to add it to your card and go all the way throught to the checkout. It puts the $40 in just before you tell it the shipping method.

Dell is also running a Free Ground Shipping special through today for all orders over $99! And no sales tax in my state!

I can't quite figure out why the 300 mhz version won't work with this offer. If you add enough accessories to it (pens, cradle and travel cable) to make it cost over $308, it STILL won't apply the discount. I understand that the offer details are quoted from Dell as:

"For a limited time, take $40 off your total order that exceeds $300 before tax and shipping. Offer does not include the Dell AximTM X5 handheld. Purchases must be made online from Dell Home Systems Software & Peripherals1!

The $40 price reduction will automatically be calculated when you add the applicable item to your shopping cart."

But if it excludes the Axim, why does it work with the 400mhz Axim and not the 300mhz?

Thanks for the heads-up. I placed my order without trouble.

Because someone made a mistake.

My experience with Dell is that they won't ship the item if the special was allowed by mistake. You'll be getting an e-mail saying "sorry, we screwed up by including the 400mhz Axim, blah blah blah..."

The 300MHz won't work with the $40 off since this is a coupon for $40 off $300.

etalianstallion, it doesn't matter whether the order exceeds $300 if you are trying to include ONLY the 300 mhz unit; it simply won't work. I even tried buying TWO 300 mhz units (totaling far in excess of $300) and it still won't give the $40 discount.

That's a puzzler... I agree with heyday, someone made a mistake.

Typically, Dell discounts usually exclude Axim.

Right, hence the reason for the search. If you do the query as I explained in the original post, you will get one device - the 400MHz Axim. If you change the configuration to 300MHz, the discount goes away.

Sort of like going to a car dealership that is giving rebates on their V6 models and you say "I'll take one, but I only want the 4 cylinder model." :? Fine, no discount.

I called Dell @ 1-800-879-3355 and got them to sell me the 300mhz model and include the $40 discount. I had to buy the $29 leather case and the $30 cradle & travel cable option so that the price exceeded $300: my total was:

$308 300mhz Axim with leather case, sync cradle & travel cable
($40) Instant Discount
($50) Mail-In Rebate
$0 Free ground shipping and sales tax

$218 FINAL PRICE!!! :D

The sales guy was very nice. I simply explained that the discount worked on-line for the 400 mhz unit and he worked his tail off to get the order to go through for the 300 mhz unit. He checked with two supervisors and finally got approval.

Can't wait to get it!

COOL! I'm glad you got the $. I love to hear stories like that.

Personnaly, I've NEVER had a problem with Dell CS. They are among the best IMHO.

I took the plunge, the price was too good to pass up. I bought an iPaq right when they came out but switched back to Palm with a Sony NR70V last year. Now I'll just use both I guess :-)

Just do a search on "3001YR" in Home and Home Office, and make certain that you get enough accessories to bump the total over $300. You'll get $40 off your 300MHz Axim.

Thanks ploeg! I had an order pending that I placed on Saturday for the 300MHz version, so I cancelled that one, added a battery (which I really wanted anyway but couldn't justify cost-wise) to bring the total above $300, and essentially got the battery for $20 instead of $60!

Of course, I reset my ship date as well, I'm sure, but what can you do...

Dell seems to have conflicting terms and conditions.

If you click on the rebate terms (http://www.dell.com/us/en/dhs/promos/promotopic_rebate_axim_popup.htm) on the Axim order page, you can find this quote in the offer details:

"Rebates are redeemable after purchase at regular system price (before rebate price)."

However, further down, you will find this:

"Offer may be combinable with all other offers or discounts available from Dell Home Systems Co."

If you download the Rebate form, the terms and conditions state:

"Offer may not be combinable with all other offers or discounts available from Dell Home Systems Co."

SO WHICH IS IT!!!!!

I just purchased a 400 Axim (by itself) and when I checked out, it automaticallly deducted $40 from my order for the "$40 off $300 system" offer. There was no way to bypass this deduction, so I feel that Dell should honor the $50 rebate as well as the $40 deduction.

Will they?????

I ordered with the $40 discount on Tuesday evening and did not receive a final confirmation. I called today and my order had never been completed in their system - even though I got a preliminary confimation. The salesperson had no problem giving me the $40 discount and modifying my order.

Added the thumbpad to my order as well. 8O They put it back up today.

8O They put it back up today.

Do you mean that the offer is over? :?

Do you mean that the offer is over? :?

No, I meant that they finally made the Thumbpad available again. Sorry for the confusion.

I tried to order over the internet using the code 4001YR. Everything worked, but there was no option to add an extended warranty. So I ordered over the phone, received the $40 discount, and got my warranty extended.

After hanging up I played around with the code on the site. Here is what I could have done:
400MHz AXIM with 2 yr. extended warranty: 4002YR
400MHz AXIM with 3 yr. extended warranty: 4003YR
. . . and so on. The same works with the 300MHz.

Like I said, the phone worked fine, but my ship date is Feb. 10, while the web site quotes Feb. 6. Probably no actual difference, but now I'll always wonder.

For anyone wondering, the $40 discount and the $50 rebate are two separate things--they will not conflict, but instead will accumulate. Better hurry if you want the rebate!
