The current maximum 512MB I believe. But the 1GB is about to hit the market (I heard). I don't know the (American) prices though. Usually a lot cheaper than over here in Holland :?

Did you check the PriceGrabber link on the Pocket PC Thoughts home page? I did, and the best price I found was $317.13 for a Lexar 512 MB SD card (http://pocketpcthoughts.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=605496/search=512%2520SD%2520Cards/ut=d88b25eaa8164ebc).

wow $317 8O

I just bought a 256 SD card from buy.com... it will be about $79 after the $30 rebate! I understand that memory pricing isn't linear, but I would think $225 tops... oh well, maybe next year!

It's just like with processors and hard drives - there's always a disproportionate price premium for the newest, biggest, baddest for those on the bleeding edge.

When buying a memory card the best time to buy is when the card is 2-3 generations old. That usually when a memory card hits the public stores (BestBuy, CompUSA) I have not yet seen a 256mb sd card in a store, but I have seen the card sold by online retailers since July. The 256mb sd card will probably hit stores at cheap pirces when the 1gb card is released. By then the 256mb card is 2 generations old. If you play this right you will not end up spending $100+ on a card that will be $20-30 cheaper the next month.

Funny that you mention that, because I was at CompUSA yesterday and they had 256 MB SD cards. I think it was a SanDisk -- they have both SanDisk and Lexar on their Web site for $140.

They also had 512 MB CF cards (Lexar, if I recall correctly).
