I have been using PPCs for a long time but got my first PPC 2002 (HP1910) about a month or so ago. Running it with a Sandisk 64MB SD Card.

PPC 2002 hangs about every other time I turn the device on :-(
I usually turn it off at the today screen and when I turn it on it is frozen about 50% of the time, requiring a soft reset. it is not consistent so I have not been able to figure out the problem.
The device has turned it self on at least three occasions while in my pocket, frozen, stayed on and run the battery down. The last time it did this, it run both main and backup battery down and wouldn't even turn on or recharge without me doing a hard reset and losing a couple of days worth of data.

Is this a common problem, and could someone kindly point me to a thread if it has been discussed before?

Beginning to get totally frustrated.

I will try this for a while without the SD card and see if it is better.

Thanks in advance for any help!

sounds like you need to replace the device

i dont think its related to the OS

I agree, it sounds as if your unit is defective. Call ASAP for a replacement...

Yep, defective unit must be the issue, I find PPC 2002 OS performing much better than 2000.

Cheers.

ditto to all the comments. your PPC is way screwed up, it sounds like.

I've only been using my Pocket PC for a week but I've had no problems at all with Pocket PC 2002.

The problem is not normal or common

I've been using mine for over 6 months and it has only hang 1 or 2 times so far.

Had the same thing happen to my 3850, looks like Compaq/HP quality of workmanship has not changed. Make sure you insist on a brand new device, not a fixed one, if you had it for less than 30 days you can usually do that.

Thanks for the feedback. Will contact HP. I have been running it for two days without the SD Card and haven't had a problem. It looks like others are having the same problem with the HP1910 from this brighthand thread:
