<a href="http://www.totalasp.co.uk/">http://www.totalasp.co.uk/</a><br /><br />David Cleland runs an Active Server Pages (ASP), Windows Server and Web Hosting related site called Total ASP. They just launched a Pocket PC / PDA version of the site at <a href="http://www.pocketasp.net">www.pocketasp.net</a>. Looks very nice!<br /><br />Two questions: What two things do David Cleland and Beth Goza have in common? What does David Cleland have that Jason Dunn does not?

Wouldn't that be Beth Torrone? 8)
Or is she keeping her maiden name for work-purposes?

Regardless, you have me intrigued!

Very funny thread - I like the sound of PT Goza! But to ask a question on-topic. What are the advantages of Active Server Pages especially for the PPC? I know nothing about ASP and the tutorial on at the site mentioned just says it is great, not what it is. Also Jason your site is great to read on the PPC (Mazingo) and yet Thoughts is not listed as PPC friendly while Brighthand which is a mess on the PPC, is! Is that because Brighthand is ASP and Thoughts is not? I don't get it! Also, if ASP is the cat's pajamas, are there programs that form and manage sites in this format or is this just an addition to HTML code? WHAT IN THE HECK IS ASP AND WHY IS IT SO COOL - OR IS IT!?

ASP is a server side scripting written either in VBScript (.asp) or JScript(.jsp) (although with the advent of ASP.NET that will change). Similar to PHP, ASP pages are first processed by IIS (Internet Information Server - Microsoft's web server) to process any logic on the page, and then send rendered HTML to the browser requesting the page.

It's really only useful if you are writing web apps on a Windows Server running IIS. I have no idea why they think it's the cat's meow for PPC sites.

Pocket PC Thoughts is written in PHP, but I don't know if that's grounds for exclusion from their list.

.jsp is more normally Java/J2EE. I don't do ASP dev - does that also use ".jsp" as a file extension?

Thanks for posting about www.pocketasp.net - really appreciate it. I liked the bald idea - but given I was born with more hair then I have now sadly it was wrong :)
