FYI, the Total Remote transmitter does not block the CF slot on the Axim.

FYI, Griffin has officially given up trying to make it work with the Axim. The headphone jack is one of only TWO Pocket PCs that should work based in specs, but the audio hardware sucks too much to function (the Casio E-200 being the other).

So, until Total Remote gets it's own CF card transmitter similar to other devices, Griffin does not encourage Dell owners to buy it without FULLY understanding the limitations.

Just so I am clear, the Total Remote does not work with the Dell??

That Sucks!

PotPie: While Total Remote DOES run and operate correctly from a software standapoint, the ultra-clever transmitter hardware works very poorly compared to every other Pocket PC on the market. The problem is with the audio hardware on the Axim, and cannot be fixed in software. Griffin's policy (at the moment) is that we will not support any Pocket PC that cannot use the transmitter module, so the Axim is currently officially declared incompatible.

If the Axim had a decent IrDA port we would have supported it, but even that is the worst I have ever seen (~5 feet). For those of you who can live with that, feel free to buy Total Remote. :/

Our attempt at a workaround is to create a CF card, like others already on the market. There is no other option for the Axim.

total remote's dongle for the audio jack is one of the things that make this set so special: you don't waste your precious CF slot and you don't waste as much power.

i have tested total remote, and i'm convinced !

use it with a LOOX, though.

Guess I should thank you guys for the ultra high $8 shipping then. Had it not been for that, I'd been out the cash.

1. I bought a AXIM to compare with my IPAQ 3835. As far as the AXims Irda port, I can consistantly control my Panasonic TV from a distant of 6-7 feet using UltraRemote, My IPAQ only has about a 5' range, so I must take exception to your statement "If the Axim had a decent IRda Port"

2. I listen to MP3 files quite a bit throught the earphone jack on my Axim. I find the Audio output through the earphone jack to be top quality, easily the match to the outpput from my IPAQ (External speaker is subpar though)

SO I have to think that problem is actually the Total Remote hardware is just not compatable with the AXim rather than "The Axims Audio hardware sucks"

I'll take it if you don't want it :D I have a Dell, but was thinking about getting one and turning my old Ipaq into a dedicated remote.
