I was wondering if any of you are physicians and could recommend some good PPC software.

I'm interested in 2 types - rounding software and op notes/case list database. Our clinic has EMR which can theoretically sync to my Axim...it would be great to incorporate the hospital experience with our electronic records...

There's a couple things I've seen on the web, just wondered if anyone had used anything cool...

look at http://www.medicalpocketpc.com/

also try http://www.pdamd.com/vertical/home.xml

the most useful program i found for personal use in my clinic is http://www.medcomsys.com/

its far from perfect, but does allow each subsection of the note to have custom phrases assigned to keys. the version im using is old so some of the poor features, such as changing the format of the final print and also the large size of the program and database (you need 10mb free memory for it to run) may be better.

people are also using hanDbase and visualCE as database programs that you can create forms for or use other peoples previously created forms.

for me, i eventually gave up on ppc for patient data -- it was just too slow to enter the info on a tiny screen even with a partable key board. i ended up getting a ultraportable laptop that i can easily carry. this gives me wireless access to the hospital, a reasonable screen and keyboard, and full OS/applications for writing notes. plus i can keep all of my articles on it. the trade off though is battery life. some of the tablet pc's look very tempting too but again i bet the handwriting recognition would be too slow and the battery life issue would remain.
