E 310 and Internet [Archive] - Thoughts Media Forums

I own an e-310 and was wondering, if I have just a plain ol' phone line internet connection can I connect directly to the internet with out going through a pc?? what other ways can you connect to the net' (with wires) with this pc?

The only way you would be able to do so is through a CompactFlash phone modem. Given that your PPC doesn't have a CF slot, I can't think of any way for you to get online. Sorry.

Hey! Wait! I just saw that you were trying to sell your e310! What's the deal? Are you going to sell it unless you can connect to the internet? :?

Yeah I want to sell it. I got it a few months ago, and dont really understand how these things go online (which is part of the reason I got it). To me, its useless with out that feature (residence has wired internet). So i'd rather just rather have money for school, or for a desktop PC

These PPC's are just not the best internet devices. If you want that you better get a HPC (jornada 72x does have an integrated modem) or a laptop

Unless SD wi-fis come out, you are out of luck getting the e310 online w/o a PC. Since Toshiba isn't very good about supporting discontinued products with add-ons, what you see is what you get. You may want to look into the e740 w/ wi-fi if you'd like to get online with a handheld. You can also get a nice Palm IIc (the color one?) w/ modem, keyboard package for around $150. I know, it's a Palm for you die-hard PPC fans.

I saw the e740 w/ wi-fi at CompUSA and it was nice to surf the web but the screen is very small for that cost. Nowadays, you can add a little bit more and get a laptop for the cost of a full-blown PPC!
