Will WMP 9 for PPC be released Jan 9th?

Probably not... PPC development is usually behind the desktop OS

I believe 8.5 was originally supposed to support WMA and WMV with 9 series encoding, but they decided not to. I use the Beta of 9 for the desktop and love it, no buffering for streaming video encoded in their format, its good... yes still good.

I thought that was the case as well with 8.5 It was more of a "patch" until WMP 9 was fully released. I have heard that 8.5 does not support everything about series 9. Is this true?

I'm wondering the same thing... I wonder if anyone knows who we should contact at HP/Compaq to say "release 8.5 for us 31xx and 36xx users!
