OK, so the partying and prize-giving is finally over. It's time for everyone's favorite topic: New Year's Resolutions... but let's give it a Pocket PC twist. What resolutions do you have that are relevant to your PPC?<br /><br />I'll start with a few of mine. <!> <li> Actually finish the tasks I keep on putting in (my count currently stands at 92 items, many of them with notes listing subtasks, plus I have long-term tasks in ListPro).<br /><li> Finish converting some of the old Palm data I <i>still</i> have lying around in BrainForest these last 2.5 years. 8O<br /><li> Read more of the eBooks I've bought.<br /><li> Finish ripping and encoding my CD's so I can listen to them on my iPaq.<br /><li> Finally get the adapter that will allow me to use my 3600-series Stowaway on my 3870.<br /><li> Learn Fitaly.How about you?

because i STILL haven't completely gotten rid of pen and paper for jotting down notes or quick reminders i want to do ALL my note-taking, PIMing with my PocketLOOX.
maybe i should feel more comfortable using it. most of the time i rip off a piece of paper to note a name, number or similar because i can't stand people going "oooh" and "aaah" and "you're such a show-off" when i whip out my Loox (now with a brand new VAJA case :) )

Since I got engaged about 3 weeks ago 8O , I have put myself on a budget (with the help of my fiance, her idea). I will be using my PPC to start tracking my daily expenses using Pocket Excel.
I have been waiting quite some time for Pocket Quicken to come out with a PPC version of there software. I am still wondering when this will happen. Does anyone have any good recommendations for an Expense tracking program? I have yet to have one really catch my eye.
Also, I WILL get a bigger memory card for my PPC (once they drop in price a little)
To use my PPC for good not evil.

To take over the world!!! :twisted:
(Did I say that out loud?) :)
Seriously, I'll try to:
- Not break it again, cos my warranty finishes this year
- Not do a hard reset
- But start doing backup
- Not buy another unit, actually, not buy another unnecessary gadget
- Start using for listening to music
- Read more eBooks
- Sync it more tightly with my cellphone

Does anyone have any good recommendations for an Expense tracking program? I have yet to have one really catch my eye.there's flexwallet (http://www.twopeaks.com/Main/software/flexwallet/), and Spb Quick (http://www.softspb.com/products/quick/index.html), both of which have been in the raffle on ppc thoughts. the latter also syncs with your desktop quicken.

I will NOT break my PPC again. I am sick of using the warantee to get a new one and change it again. I'll try to keep my iPAQ at least for a year. I will try to get more accesories for my iPAQ. I never get accesories for my PPC, only some software. I will also try to organize myself. Some of my notes are missing, I don't remenber the file name. And I will visit this site more often online than by using the Avant Go service. I like doing it online but I never have the time. :lol:

- to finally complete the code for my Franklin Planner replacement software;
- to write up the "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Developing ActiveSync Providers But Microsoft Didn't Bother To Mention" article;
- To replace my Toshiba e740 with a device with working buttons, fewer sync problems, and a battery that doesn't discharge at the most inopportune times;
- To remember to log my financial transactions in MS Money before I leave the store (since that's why I installed it, after all);
- To write all of those tiny apps that should only take a few days each;
- To read PPCT every day.
(You should always include an easy one so you aren't a total failure :wink: )
- Become less synical (like that's going to happen...)
- Keep my PPC files clean (be more memory concious)
- Floss.....More
- Loose 35 pounds
- Gain 35 pounds
- Buy some kind of Quicken compatible/syncable budget software for my PPC
- Get my wife on a PPC
- Complain about my wireless connection speed through T-Mobile
I agree.
It's always good to have a couple of gimmes in there.
:D
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

My resolution is to actually use my PPC to write my book, instead of messing around with games, the internet, cool utilities and reading other people's books. :D
I also resolve to yell at T-mobile about their hotspot service until they cry "uncle"! I've had nothin' but problems so far...

To either buy a new Pocket PC or upgrading the memory on my Jornada 568 to 128 MB of RAM. Depends on what new Pocket PCs come out in the first quarter of 2003. Maybe a new Dell Axim?
I also want to improve my use of the Pocket PC at work through wireless connectivity and also to set up a wireless network at home.
As a side note, although I wasn't able to participate in the New Years' give-away contests, I want to say that it was a great idea from the Pocket PC Thoughts staff and congratulate them for a job well done. Too bad that some people took it too seriously that they felt that they had to cheat to try and win something.
Lighten up!!
Happy New Year to all.

Perhaps to finish a few of my programming projects if the Compact Framework is finally released.
- I would like to find some "stand-alone" budgeting software for PPC (much like Quick Budget on the Palm) that works with any of the finance programs.
- Upgrade from my EM500 (which still does a great job but is beginning to show signs of age in processor speed) to a new PPC. Hey Microsoft, what are the OS plans for this year???
-Become less reliant on my notebook computer and more so on my PPC.

I will thoroughly research my next PPC purchase (actually I'll have to have some good reasons if I'm actually going to get one at all!).
Wasn't a resolution as such, just the game plan. :)
Nice to see that we're back to the normal crowd around here! Can we make "I only joined for the competitions" apply to people who only posted yesterday or posted more than 25% of their posts yesterday?

To thoroughly enjoy my new DELL AXIM 400. After having a
HP 540 and an iPAQ 3150, the speed and beautiful color and
outside viewing is absolutely thrilling.
To encode more videos/movies to enjoy with the above Dell.
I just finished encoding and uploading Josh Groban in Concer
DVD....
To use and enjoy Mazingo more this year. Their Digital Video
Service coupled with the new DELL's vivid color display is so
neat.
To do more with photo's on the DELL this year. My 2.2 megapixel
camera has a CF memory media which goes great with the DELL.
To complement Jason and the Pocket PC Thoughts Team for a
#1 PPC Site. It's my first site I view in the net (several times a day!0
Happy NEW YEAR.

Come on Daniel, that's a bit harsh. These competitions help flush lurkers out of cover - and many will contribute in future. Everyone needs to start somewhere.
As to the I only joined for the competitions" question - look at: http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6591&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=80
Ah - I thought I saw that as his title - but when I look now he is indeed a 'Pupil'. I thought that 'I just joined for the contests" stayed until the person got 20 or so posts? Evidently not then. :?
No, it changes at two posts. I get enough questions with it only set at one. ;-)

* to switch from my iPaq 3650 to a really nice PPC Phone Edition for the Sprint Vision network.
* to stop making New Year's resolutions that depend on the kindness of hardware manufacturers.
* to cut back at least a little bit on buying every little gadget out there and then never using them.
* to sell the gadgets I have that I never use.

They already have a program called "PopQuick" I can't install it because it requires 11 MB Ram. (That's my resolution - to stop downloading so many programs 'cause I'm almost out of Main Memory. I have an SD 128 MB but some programs get downloaded to Main memory anyway.)
There are two more good ones I can tell you about. "MCBank" is one and "Money etc" is another. Both can be found by going to http://www.handango.com.

My new years resolution is to be content with my Dell Axim (which shall be arriving in a few days) and not buy a new PDA for at least another six months :lol:
I'm kinda new here so I'll introduce myself - I'm gwizard, some of you may remember me (and my Studebaker antics - see avatar :)) from PDA Buzz a while back. I've been reading this site for a while but I didn't really take time to register. I am now frequenting this site and PDA Live. I don't have a Pocket PC yet (my main PDA at the moment is a Diamond Mako...I also have a Psion 5mx that died on me) but I'm getting a Dell Axim Advanced in a few days so I'm a Pocket PC newbie :D

I resolve to take full advantage of my new Dell Axim (which will hopefully arrive tomorrow - my first PPC)
I'll also try to not pick on my still Palm using friends too much.
Finally gather all my important info together and make full use of Flexwallet.
Figure out the best settings for rendering my Adobe Premiere projects to Windows Media for PPC viewing and share them with the group.

I'm resolving to make more use of my PPC. I have AT&T BI and I have yet to figure out why I can't retrieve my POP3 e-mail. I would also like to be able to use ActiveSync over the internet.
I also want to buy a Axim, but I may wait for the X7.
Happy New Year :D

I had 301 posts and I left when Wes was kicked out by the idiots who took over a wrecked a great site. :evil: I have the PDA Gerbil name at a few other PDA sites as well - though I hardly ever post anywhere other than here.
I am very happy in my new home here however. :way to go: I will get around to posting about my name in the thread about names - just not gottten round to reading them all yet.

I know what you mean about Wes - it showed/s his commitment to the site. The new owners aren't in the same ballgame - let alone the same league. :? I think Wes will remain Riiiiiigggghhht up there for quite a while. It's nice that he posts here evey now and again.
