Outlook 2000 and backlight issue

Just spoke with FSC in the UK yesterday and they confirmed:

a) they are shipping me an Outlook 2000 CD because I didn't get one when I purchased the Loox originally
b) the backlight problems are being addressed in the next ROM update although there is no release date for this

Hopefully of interest....

That is useful information -- at least a confirmation that the problem is software/firmware related.

Seems without anything in the CF slot, backlight works correctly (in low-light and dark environments).

Anyone confirm this?

I tried both with and without something in the CF slot - I didn't see a difference. It seems to me that the light sensor needs to sense at least some light in order to turn on. I usually point the LOOX to my digital alarm clock so that it can "sense" some minimal light and that is usually enough for me.

Just to confirm I also spoke with FSC UK today and ordered Outlook 2000.

I'll let you know if it does eventually turn up.
