I just got the beautiful machine....so so so sexy! Actually, my best friend is the project manager of this PDA in Taiwan. This machine is designed and produced in Taiwan.....At the very beginning, they tried to sell this product to Dell, but Dell declaim....so ther sold to HP. The fact is this product is much better than Dell's new PDA for a beginner.... I think for this money, this is worth. Some hint for you guys: 1.Most of the distributors don't have products in stock....try the "HP" official sites....I 've try two days and got the chance...after 2 hours I placed the order, they ran out of stock 2. Use the coupon code "SV1578" on HP Official site, you will get an extra 10%25 off and a free leather case for your PDA...

I dunno what that person was talking about... the 1910 being better than the Axim. Putting aside the fact that it is smaller, the 1910 is clocked in at 200mhz, vs. 300/400mhz, and the battery.... the battery life in the Axim is superb when compared to the 1910. At least in my opinion.

Thanks for the interesting info jeasher.
I think Dell passed on the 1910 because the style was to "Flashy" for them.
Dell style tends to be more conservative.
mscdex, while the 1910 is only 200mhz it is by no means an under-performer. In fact there is talk on Brighthand about possibly overclocking it.

Well, why should you have to overclock it manually in the first place?

Well, the Dell Axim can be underclocked using the software Dell provided. But, If Dell releases Windows CE .NET for the Dell Axim, it will have an X-Scale Board Support Package (BSP). This will let Pocket PC (.NET, 2003, 2004, Platinum  ) keep up with the hardware enabling the device to become faster than what it is now.

I know you can underclock the Axim, however, correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no option under Settings where you can change the 1910's speed from 200 to higher. You would have to use 3rd party software.

You are correct mscdex.

I think the main reason HP went with the 200 MHz CPU, and the statement that there won't be any higher-end 19xx models, is the negative impact the faster CPU would have on battery life. I don't think it would really be worth overclocking the 1910 if it resulted in a battery life of one hour (just guessing here) on a full charge.

Unless a user is planning on playing games or playing video, the processor speed matters very little. This is purely an organizer... and a good one at that. That is how most people will use this device most likely.

The 1910 is very stylish, reminds me a bit of the Palm V, but the only knock I have against it is the 2.5 mm headphone jack, yeah I know it reduces the size, but your stuck with the phones from HP and prices they would charge for replacing them.

You can get 2.5mm headphones (found this (http://www.pcconnection.com/scripts/productdetail.asp?product_id=318733) doing a quick search on Google), or you could also buy an adapter. Adapters are typically bulky though. So it's an iconvenience having the smaller headphone jack, but not really a show stopper IMO.

That's an earbud, friend... mono. One ear only.
Here's what you're looking for. Note the price is for lots of 100 or more... (keep this in mind when you buy... you're likely to pay lots more for just one!)
