I am just wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom concerning BestBuy? It seems Edmonton will be getting one very soon. To a lot of you this might not be a great event but having Future Shop and CompuSmart isn't the best of choices when it comes to "looking" at things. London Drugs is equally as pathetic. Now, I am really hoping that this will be BestBuy computer store and not Best Buy redneck truck tune up parts store - god help us all if it is - we already have Canadian Tire for that. I suppose my questions centers around the availability of new stock and their customer service policies. Anyone, anyone?

Around here it varies wildly from store to store. There's one store where I've never had reason to complain (but haven't had any significant encounters with customer service either), and a 10 minute drive away there's another store where the store staff is disagreeable, they don't know anything at all, there's never enough registers open, etc etc etc.

Anybody know if there will be a BestBuy anywhere else in Canada--maybe the East Coast???

Not sure about the East Coast, but there is one under construction here in London Ontario. And eight stores in the Toronto Area so maybe they are on there way east.

The location in London is a little strange, Best Buy owns Future Shop, and here in London the Best Buy store will be about a block away from the Future Shop that opened last year. Must be a Marketing decision.

In the Greater Toronto Area, there are already several Best Buy stores around. The two I have been in have a better selection of products than Futureshop, especially when it comes to PDAs.

Thanks guys that's great to hear, a better selection of PDA's. I can't wait this will be very exciting indeed.

"Better" is relative. Where the heck is the iPAQ 39xx?

BestBuy is a great store for going in and looking at new devices and such. My problem with them is that they always try to push their extra protection packages. I'm not going to pay $100 dollars to protect my $400 dollar device for an extra year or two. Hey by then my geekness will have caused me to buy a new one. :)

Anyway, they do have good customer service if you end up having to return something. Usually nice people at the one here, although I've found out that service does vary from store to store.
