I'm waiting on my new Axim X5 and one of these secure data programs is probably going to be my first software purchase.

I've been testing out the desktop versions of both and they seem to be very similar. About the only meaningful difference I've seen is Codewallet's ability to have both encrypted and non-encrypted data sections.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Flexwallet since it is currently $10 cheaper for the PPC & PC combo pack.

I've seen that Flexwallet is pretty new, so it probably doesn't have the development history the Codewallet probably does.

The one thing that I find odd about both programs is that the labels and data are switched from the way I would expect (i.e. I'd expect to see the label on the left so I could scan to the right to get the data, with these two, I feel like I'm reading backwards).

Anyway, does anyone have any more experiene to share, particularly something that I should be aware of that may dissuade me from Flexwallet?

Thanks and looking forward to getting my PPC.

I got CodeWallet with my HP Jornada 568 and so bought the desktop conduit. I used it for about 5 months and it worked fine, however there was an annoying glitch that wouldn't allow me to close the program properly.

I just bought FlexWallet - desktop and Pocket PC version, since I just got a new iPaq 1910. It works as advertised, very easy and not much different than CodeWallet. However, I actually like the little icons and graphics better on this program, and no closing glitch. So, in my opinion, FlexWallet improves on what CodeWallet did quite well.

For my money, it's FlexWallet. Your mileage may vary!

Happy Holidays,

I have used CodeWallet Pro for a long time, and it is a terrific program. I went to the web site and looked at FlexWallet, and everything looks very similar except for the graphics. Unlike ultimate_ed, I am not experiencing the glitch he mentioned.

One thing I am trying not to do is to install and uninstall programs too many times. In this case, I am going to stick with CodeWallet Pro until I find out some more compelling reason to try or switch to Flexwallet.

I agree. There's no significant compelling reason to switch, but as a fesh install, I'd go with FlexWallet just because its cheaper AND prettier!

I think these responses have pretty well confirmed it for me. I went ahead and bought Flexwallet. I've set up a main data wallet and a 2nd wallet to keep track of all my forum/website ID's (like this one here), as well as software registration keys (such as flexwallet itself).

Created/modified a few templates already and I'm starting to contribute them back to the developer. I did pick up on one complaint about modifying a template affecting all the cards created with that template, so I'm trying to make all the modifications and new templates I can think of before I start heavy data entry.

Thanks to all for the input. Now if only my Axim would come

Just wanted to point out that you can have non-encrypted data sections in FlexWallet too. Right-click on a Category, select Properties and uncheck the option for "Require a password". That makes all the cards under this category unsecure.
