I'm trying to learn how to downlad music from Cd's from computer, to Dell Axim. I have Windows Media 7.1. Can anyone tell me how to download music from Windows Media (computer), to Dell AXIM?
Thanks

To get music off of a CD to your computer you will need to use a CD ripping program such as MusicMatch(it is a free download, just do a search). Then you can drag and drop from you PC to the Axim using the explore feature in activesync. Just put the music files under My Documents and WMP will find them.

Put in your cd and use Windows media to copy it to your computer in WMA format. Next, find the folder where it copied the music and put it on your PPC storage card (providing you have one). Make sure you put your music in a folder titled "My Documents" so the PPC media player can recognize it. That should do it. Good luck!

Use the Windows XP media player to export your CD tracks as WMA files into your shared file directory (need to enable it via ActiveSync)... then they will get copies to your Pocket PC on next sync.

I have a similar question. I have many MP3 files on my hard drive that I would like to transfer to my sd card for my Axim. My question is two-fold. 1st, should I convert from MP3 to WMA PRIOR to transferring to SD? I've heard that the WMA files require less memory and work fine on the WMP loaded on the Axim. If it makes sense to convert to WMA, how do I do that?
2nd question, is there a simple way to copy from my desktop to the SD card in the Axim or do I need to somehow have the SD card inserted into my PC via some type of USB adapter?

Go to this site and download the Media player bonus pack from their pop down menu. It will include a converter for your mp3's to wma.

I'm not sure about WMP 7.1, but 8.0 which comes with XP. there is a Copy to CD or device tab. There is then a drop down list that allows you to move the music to SD, CF or built in storage. You of coarse have to have the cable hooked up or your X5 in the cradle. This has worked as well for me as drag and drop.

Crispeto and Roosterman,
Thanx, this is exactly what I was hoping for.

While encoding WMAs, make sure you turn the "Protect Content" feature off, or else you may not be able to play the files on your PPC.
