OK you iPAQ geeks, does Active Sync work with USB 2.0?
I realize it is backwards compatible to USB 1.1
Just wondered if anyone has successfully achieved a faster speed using the Compaq/HP USB cable or cradle w/ USB 2.0 hardware?
Inquiring minds want to know???
Thanks

I don't think any of the cradles are 2.0 compliant...thats a good idea though.

This question has come up before.
USB 1.1 is not the speed limitation on syncing Pocket PC's; it's how ActiveSync handles USB. It essentially treats it like a serial connection, so instead of 12Mbits you get something on the order of 250-500Kbps.
The way to get fast ActiveSyncing is to do it over the LAN.

oo...good point, and a reminder to WiFi users, 11Mbps connection = 5.5Mbps of speed, so 10baseT is faster than WiFi for syncing.

It can't be just like a serial connection... my Axim usb is easily much faster than my J525's serial sync. 500kb/s would take forever to sync mp3s, like the J525 did. The Axim syncs at the pretty much the same speed as my usb mp3 player. Now 250-500KB/s I could agree with.
As for usb 2.0 speed, for now use a USB 2.0 card reader.
