i am expecting the arival of my new axim x5 in the next few days and will be retiring my trustly, yet antiquated, handspring visor.

one big question i have is regarding the software for the pocket pc. i have noticed that most of it costs money. i have been spoiled for years being able to download the vast majority of my palm apps without cost from sites like palmgear.com.

are there any sites like this for pocket pc apps?

Welcome to the PPC world Steve! I used to be a devoted Palm user and now I wouldn't even think of going back. Although the Palm Tungsten did temp me a little. Ended up replacing my Jornada 568 with an iPAQ though :D

I know what you mean about all the programs for the Palm. There are quite a few more out there. One thing I have noticed though is that with most of the software you pay for with PPC's, it is pretty quality stuff. There are some freeware apps that are of good quality but IMHO, I think you get what you pay for in the PPC world. Good luck!
