Is MS Outlook the best product or are there better?

Interested in contacts, calendar, tasks, notes etc.

i use Agenda Fusion. http://www.developerone.com/
Works with Outlook on your desktop so you don't need a seperate program when sync'ing with your PC.

Pocket Informant is a good replacement. I us and like it very much. Check the front page about the update for it.

I too use PI and like it very much. Relatively easy to work with.

... of course, these are all handheld-side replacements.

If you're referring to the desktop environment, that's another question entirely. Put simply, Outlook 2000/XP is the choice if you are using a Pocket PC. Lotus Organizer used to be popular, but it's falling off the map.
