Im having a hard time figuring this out... The mp3's that i received from KAZAA are playing, but only selected ones. Not all the files are playing, like I have expected. I am running the 400 MHZ w/ 64 M ram & 48 M rom. Why is it doing that, am I the only one or is it a neccesity to purchase expansion cards?? I am a student who cant afford one right now. I am trying to get by on just what I recently purchased. Help me save money, if that is possible please.

Maybe the files are bad. Did you try playing them on a PC instead?

Media Player on the Pocket PC is very fussy about MP3s. It doesn't like a lot of mine, especially Variable Bit Rate. If you can apply EUU3 (you don't say what PPC you have) to upgrade WMP to version 8.5 then this helps a lot.

WMP 8.5 still gets the file length of VBR MP3s wrong but it does now play a lot more without problems. Not spotted a problem MP3 yet.

A memory card would be a good idea if you want a better selection of MP3s on your device anyway. Not necessary but a good investment when you can.

Oh yeah, and calm down with the big red font there, buddy! ;)

Try pocket divx. You can get it from here: http://www.projectmayo.com/projects/detail.php?projectId=9
I have it on my Ipaq 3955 and it plays alot of things WMP won't. The best thing is it is free. :D

Lower the bit rete to 128kb or lower. I usually use 96kb mp3Pro.

Sorry but I think that's your problem right there. Oh, and quit screaming.

One last thing: there's an option in WMP to play high-bit-rate audio content. Make sure that's on.

 One thing you may want to consider is converting your MP3’s to WMA files. They are smaller and you were concerned about space. They will be more compatible with your device. And you should notice very little difference in sound quality.
There are several programs that will do this. A good one to try out is Music Match Jukebox.

This is what I do.... Double, and almost triple the capacity on my CF card by doing this.

To me, the audio playback of mp3's/wma off a PocketPc does not have to be of the highest quality... I can deal with the little quality I would lose and gain the capacity, and making sure that they all play fine.
