I believe that's the standard icon that displays when your battery is low. However, if you want an application that shows your current battery level, there are TONS of them. Go to Handango.com and search for "battery."

(Hmmmm. Just how may software programs are there in a ton...?)

The refresh is slow. Also I use the datemate from the same company, I ask their tech support about the location of the data files, as I want to back it up. But no reply at all.

There are a few freeware program that do task/application management and display battery status.

wisbar - www.pelmarinc.com
icbar - www.ictinus.com/icbar/

Both of these programs are based on the original Wisbar program. Both are great programs.

Very nice. Very attractive interface. Works well on my Jornada and actually has my city on the list so I can get weather. Sort of wonder why the weather list is limited when it seems to get it from the Weather Channel. I would think you would just need to provide a way to specify the city name or airport code. Maybe that is all the weather channel does.

I have a question for the developers, in case they read through this. Do you not wear pants where you live? That conversion doesn't appear in the clothing section.

All in all, I'll wait and see if I win one, by some seasonal miracle, otherwise I'll register. At first I thought $20 was a liitle high, but when you combine the Time, the Weather, and the currency with automatic updates, it's fair.

I don't need the weather and currency stuff, but I do like the earth clock and the multiple times. If you like those, too, but want to spend less, you can get Conduits' Pocket Watch (http://www.conduits.com/products/watch) for $14.95 or Code City's CityTime (http://www.codecity.net/prodctppc.html) for $14.95 ($11.95 for a limited time).

PocketWatch is one of the few programs I actually spent money for on my Pocket PC. :-)

How did you manage to get an iPAQ 3955 for under $200? If this is available to anyone, I'd think it would be worthy of a front page mention.

I just checked the Office Max Web site (http://www.officemax.com/max/solutions/product/prodBlock.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&expansionOID=-536879833&prodBlockOID=537008483), and their price was just under $500 (not including the $75 gift card mail-in promotion). Do you have a link to get it for under $200?

I tried the older version of WorldMate, and never really liked it because it was very slow. This new version is getting much better in term of speed & features.

This application is able to sync both currencies & weather from the net, but why not add the ability to sync the Time as well (just like cityTime)? Moreover, the default Alarm of PPC is pretty lame and unfortunately worldmate only recognizes wav files stores in 'windows' folder. Why not put the support for 'tgetfile.dll' and allows user to select any wav files from any folders? It would be really cool to use the XDA ringtones as alarm for worldmate :D

I tried this a month or so ago. I really like the features EXCEPT I cannot get the weather for my location. The Weather Channel carries it so it has to be Worldmate. Their tech support folks did reply to my question about the user adding other cities and said "not at this time".

I would REALLY REALLY like to win a free copy of this program!! In the last couple of years, I've backpacked in Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Peru, India, Costa Rica, Egypt, Cypress, Thailand, Vietnam, and assorted other countries, and doing all the currency conversions, date/time stuff can be a bother.

Any chance you could have some kinda contest for the 10 free programs? Like maybe, tell a travel story that involves a Pocket PC? (When I was in Nepal, in 1999, with my Cassiopeia E-11, locals were amazed by it - ditto for Vietnam). I actually made a homemade battery-charger for my old iPaq 3650, using the dummy sleeve, and a bunch of AAA battery-holders epoxied onto the back, and wired to a matching plug from radio-shack (it was ugly, but 8 AAA batteries would fully recharge it like twice, and it was great sitting in airports from Bangkok to Cairo...

anyway, i hope i win :D

I downloaded this program recently. I was in l-o-v-e with it until I discovered that you couldn't view the weather unless you were connected to the net. I truly love ADB Weather. You get a 7-day weather forecast and it's updated everytime you sync with Active Sync. It works on my HP Jornada but I can only get the default city on my T-Mobile. Wa-aa-h!

I'm waiting for an update. I really miss checking out the weather each day so I know what to wear. Very Useful, especially in the Windy City.

There must be something wrong there, because Worldmate syncs the forecasts (and other data) every time you connect to your desktop, as long as the desktop has a connection. It ALSO lets you update manually, via an internet connection, while you're away from your desk.

Well, for just having the weather everyday, I have one of my AvantGo channels set to Yahoo (it syncs with the mobile version of My.Yahoo.Com, which is a customizable portal). I have the weather for Baltimore and DC, as well as all my local movie listings, on My Yahoo (which I first set up back in like, 1995 or 96, pre-PDA).

I started using AvantGo to sync with My Yahoo! on my old Cassiopeia E-11, and that was one of things I used most on my iPaq- it updates everytime you sync, you get a 5-day forcast (detailed for today and tomorrow), and the movies only change like once per week anyway (and you even get the descriptions of the movies, showtimes, etc).

Anyway - that's one very free way to get this stuff, along with whatever news you've picked for you My Yahoo! page (it just shows as Yahoo! on the AvantGo channel list).

People, you don't need to ask to be signed up. You sign up yourself by registering. Read what Brad said....

If a contest requires you to post in the thread, that's always mentioned.

Sorry, but it gets annoying looking at updates to the forums and finding "Sign me up!" posts. :x

I have been using ContactPro from Mobilmate. It becomes my most favorite app for its smart (and yet simple) user interface (stylusless....).

"Need to call a friend, but your hands are busy? Let Contacts Pro help you lookup your contacts in a flash. With Contacts Pro, looking up contacts becomes a quick & simple one-hand operation. Contacts Pro's predictive search will help you find, dial (to GSM phones) or beam any contact with just a few (finger) taps. Contacts Pro, with dazzling graphic display and killer functionality, is an essential tool you cannot afford to miss."

I wish others PIM such PocketInformant would copy this friendly interface (e.g. large character, finger friendly, smart predictive input,...)
http://www.mobimate.com/ppc/contactspro/index.shtml
Highly recommended!

A little suggestion: Mobimate should develop a additional PIM funtion (calendar, task) using this same user interface. This would be a killer app .

It's possible to update the weather everytime you sync. Just check the menu on your activesync 'Tools/Options/Sync Options/WorldMate'.

Even quicker, if you have the Details view in ActiveSync, is right-clicking on an item, then selecting Settings.
