I haven't, but the hardware specs on their Phone Edition device are impressive. It's hard to get too excited about this though - I've seen some amazing technology built in Taiwan, only to see it languish there without a North American company willing to bring it over here. Hopefully the P700 will be a different story!<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/eten-ppc-phone.gif" /><br /><br />"Integrated wireless connectivity for voice and data communication<br />Fit your lifestyle and manage your work on the move. Jason,

By following the link on the page to a Chinese page, it confirmed my speculation about this company E-Ten. It's the exact one that used to be dominating the Chinese (input/display )sub system in the DOS era. The Traditional Chinese input method is still my favorite and is part of the standard input methods on Windows OSes.

Jason, are you sure about the SDIO plus CF I slots? I think I recall that they first announced it to come with just a CF slot and later on changed that to SDIO... Maybe your Chinese is better than mine to confirm that

Slight problem is that in that picture, it's not running Pocket PC Phone Edition.

Holy sh*t it even has a transflective screen. You'll notice that they went to the bother of mentioning it is backlit.....after that how could you not like this device. It even has USB host

I think the Paragon cellular network may have to get fired up on a GSM network just to bring this device to North America.......Any partners out there?

Dave

edit.....woops the PDF says it is frontlit reflective. Here we go again! I can feel it in my bones. Is it, or isn't it?

Oh men! and I still waiting for the Samsung SPH-i700 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?id=191). 8O

If it wasn't for the unlimited data that Sprint offers, I'll be switching to GSM/GPRS right now. :o

Its tri-band so those wanting to import it can right?

Well, we can hope that it's because the screenshot is cooked.

What's cool is what Fishie mentioned - since it's triband GSM, as long as these units are manufactured in the appropriate languages they could be imported even if they're not available.

Let's hope the battery on this thing is good, and that it hits the market.

We also don't know what the thickness is.

Yep, mate, it does. But if you check the picture at http://www.eten.com.tw/English/products/P600.asp they are not mentioning any CF slot... just the SD one. I think it can't hurt to ask twice...

This fits nearly all the requirements I had previously posted for my next PPC!!!

Only things missing are 4" backlit screen and built-in WiFi.
CF WiFi would work find so that means only the screen.
I would really like to see it marketed here tho. Come on T-Mobile!

Those P600 buttons aren't labelled correctly. The home button is labelled as the Phone Off button, the Phone On button is labelled as Notepad, and the Contacts button is labelled as Home.

I hope the product design is better than the Web design. :-)

Nope, you forgot Bluetooth too. Remember, the HP5450 has everything this machine does, except the GPRS. There's where you're Bluetooth enabled GSM/GPRS phone comes in.

When my business expands, I'll be handing over my 3870 to my new employee and I'll be buying me one of them fancy 5450's.

My idea of the perfect PDA won't be around for another couple of years, so I'm really in no rush to buy the latest and greatest. What I'm really waiting for are when 4GB SD cards cost $99.99 or less and I can watch movies on my PDA at DVD quality.

Yeah, but not built-in as they point out themselves: "Built-in SDIO card slot and Compact Flash Type I expansion slot"

I'm not sure I get your point. I think "built-in" distributes to both "SDIO card slot" and "Compact Flash Type I expansion slot". Are you thinking that "expansion slot" means it's not built-in?

If so, I disagree. "Expansion slot" just means a slot that allows you to expand the function of the device. It doesn't imply that you need an expansion option to get that slot.

E-TEN , that's what my mom used to yell at about 18.00 o' clock....Loosely translated from dutch to english that would be :

E-TEN == DIN-NER ;-)

Yeah I guess bluetooth would be nice too.
Hmm, personally I don't see it as a must-have now but we'll see what comes along...

Yeah I guess bluetooth would be nice too.
Well, with SDIO or the CF I slot you should be able to leverage a Bluetooth card.

In Europe you can get Eten products. Look at http://www.consus-gmbh.de They sell the Pocket PC P-600. I hope they will have the new one as well.
