My Mama has ambitiously requested a Pocket PC for Christmas, but although she might pass for computer literate, she's far from fluent.
What PPC would y'all recommend based upon a "simple acclamation process" criterion? And forget about hand writing recognition, she'll require a keyboard of some sort...

As far as ease of use, I think you will find that they are all for the most part the same becaue that is really dictated by the OS and the differences in the hardware between vendors are not going to have much of an effect on the simplicity of the acclamation process.

Buy the 300mhz dell axim and the keyboard add on and hope it gets there before christmas ;)
why - because it's the cheapest model out there, yet still quality. If she ends up not liking it, you didn't blow too much. Plus it features SD and CF so you got choices there.

Absolutely get the Dell. $199 is hard to beat. However, start without the keyboard - she'll play Solitaire over Christmas, and she can use the desktop for entry - and order the keyboard separately. This way you can at least give her something as a gift. :)
Also, she might find the on-screen keyboard good enough if she's not entering a lot.
The only reason to consider something else is size, and if that's of a major issue than the iPaq 1910 is your choice. However, keyboard, etc. availability might take some time.
Kudos to your mom requesting a PPC as a gift... most people just say "PalmPilot" :x

Thanks for the suggestions, I am looking at both models and we'll make a decision by the end of the day. I noticed a Handspring had an integrated thumb key board...do any PPCs have that feature?

My mom had expressed an interest in having her own device.
Last Xmas, I gave my mom a Vtech Phusion, inexpensive, has a camera, has a keyboard, is simple and has cute graphics(is set to display different animated graphic when you turn it on during a holiday).
As I expected, It's in the box untouched.

No, not yet. You can get clip-on thumb keyboards, though.
