They're having a special holiday sale, just for Pocket PC Thoughts readers! A 20% discount and free shipping - not bad at all!<br /><br />And best of all, they've given us three copies to give away - but the clock is ticking! The <b>first three people</b> to respond to this message with an indication of what they'd use the software for will win one copy each (see? there are rewards for visiting this site frequently throughout the day!). And for the rest of you, enjoy that 20% discount!<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/photogenics.jpg" /> <br /><br />"Give the gift of Photogenics this Christmas with a limited edition retail boxed version of Photogenics for Pocket PC. This is the same multiple award winning version of Photogenics that has been available for sale via Electronic Software Delivery, but for the first time packaged in a beautifully designed case and delivered on CD, the perfect stocking filler! To further get into the Christmas Spirit, we are also offering a 20% discount, FREE US Priority mail shipping, and a FREE upgrade to version 2.0 when it ships next year!"<br /><br /><b>UPDATE:</b> All three winners have been picked, and it took about 120 seconds for three people to post (I kid you not). You guys are animals! I love it! :rock on dude!: The rest of you, enjoy that 20% discount - this program is awesome! There's also a small affiliate cut that comes to Thoughts from this promotion, so when you purchase a copy of the software you're helping to support us.

You caught me! I posted this at 3:12 PM and then pulled it for a delayed posting - you posted before I did that, which is why your post is above mine. Ooops. Congrats on being the first though! :D

Touch up digital photos straight from the camera in the field before emailing them onwards...

Little did I know that I would actually reply before the original message.

Kind of reminds me of that old SNL commercial for I think it was for the package delivery service "Einstien Express - When it absolutely must get there the day before yesterday!"

Anyhow I must have stumbled across the posting during one of my refreshes...

Thanks alot,

Jon

damn. of course i just bought this a few days ago to go with my new Canon S45.
0ne snag I've run into, and maybe someone here has a solution, is that neither this program or Pocket Artist (which has a harder time) can open a file the camera produces at the highest resolution of about 2272x1784 pixels, so i can't transfer pictures directly through the cf card and edit!
one solution is to decrease the resolution. but i prefer the picture. no program i've found can crop specific parts of large pictures. iaalbum crashes also out of memory.
is there anyway around this? is there a program that can crop large files? can photogenics allow larger files to opened. ps. i have 64 mb ram.

I wouldn't say "easily the best". What about Pocket Artist?

Who said that? I said:

"easily one of the most impressive applications"

Notice that's ONE OF... :-) I was thinking of Pocket Artist when I said that, because both are excellent applications.

I was seriously considering buying graphics software for my iPaq when your posting turned up. The normal price of $49.99 is a little too high for my blood, but 20% off would make it possible.

However... the £39.99 price is for the boxed set rather than the downloadable software. Shipping is only allowed within the good ol' U. S. of A. so us poor Europeans are left out in the cold.

I'm left in the unfortunate position in that the downloadable version of the code (which I can buy) is $10 more expensive than the nice presentation set which I can't!

Back to the drawing board (figuratively obviously... at the higher price it is hardly likely to be a literal observation)

Very good point about the discount not being too useful for Europeans, sorry! Especially as I`m a Brit myself, the 80 degree heat here must have addled my brain. Enter "I`m left in the cold!" in the special instructions field and I`ll send it via email to you. 8)

Try setting the allocation slider in the system memory settings to make sure 32MB is actually available to programs, that should help. Large images on the Pocket PC are difficult for most applications to handle due to the Windows CE OS restricting programs to only allocating 32MB each, if they are lucky. Pocket Phojo breaks out of this barrier and can edit any size image (I`ve tested with 50 megapixel images), but is slightly more expensive than Photogenics.

you are kidding right!? i think the price for Pocket Phojo is $499, which yes is slightly more expensive. unless you are offering me a discount on the upgrade! i did try moving the allocation slider but no help. Pocket Artist will open larger files, but overall I prefer the style of Photogenics slightly, and the fact that it works faster if the file will load because it multithreads. So please - either sell me me Pocket Phojo for cheap, implement the same features on Photogenics, or Conduits - could you multithread?

The slider didn't help? I`ll tweak that for version 2.0 (which you can have a free upgrade to). Adding the feature from Phojo is a double edged sword, as it does slow things down, I`ll try and work out the best compromise.

Photogenics for Pocket PC 2.0 is based on the upcoming Photogenics 7.0 for Windows/Linux (minus the 128bit per pixel floating point pipeline), which is currently being put through it's paces at various locations in LA, San Rafael, New Zealand.. Should be worth the wait :)
