Software Keyboard vs. The Real Deal? Which Do You Prefer?

While software is a neat trick, I don't like to get oils and other fun on the screen (or screen protector).

Unfortunately I don't like the thumb keyboards I've had with my 3870 either... I can still use Block Recognizer nearly as fast, as the key combinations for things like punctuation are just too awkward for me.

The Stowaway rules, of course, but it's too big. I'm tempted to get a thin one once a iPaq version comes out. (See www.thinkoutside.com for the pictures of the new super-thin version, which is currently available for the Palm Tungsten)

That really doesn't bother me as the stylus seems to slide a little better across the screen . But I agree, it's a little messy.

Well, I'm personally 6'1" and have pretty big fingers and the hardware keyboard is bad enough for me, but to squeeze it even further onto a 3 inch screen is absolute torture for me. I too agree that it's an awesome design and idea, but I have to have the feel for the keys. I can write in the Block Recognizer faster than I can "type" on the screen as well and not being able to see the full message makes me paranoid. Call me crazy. Wait.. think about that for a second.

Um, I know. Isn't that nice? I've seen the one already out now for it at http://datanywhere.net:

This doesn't look to be _that_ big as I see that the sides slide out once flat, and I think that it may be a little better for the people who have bigger fingers; such as myself. Just my two cents.

Take care,

That's interesting. I don't know how the form factor of a pie shaped keyboard would fit into my pocket or my attache. It looks as if it has many features that the current keyboards do not have though. Thanks for the link!

Wow, that's quite distinctive-looking. My problem with it is the round keys - the large, square keys of the Stowaway are much like a regular keyboard which I'm attuned to.

Nevertheless, if you see a review, let us know :)
