Hi there everyone, I like most others have ordered my Dell Axim 400mhz handheld. And like everyone else I am waiting for a sign from the Dell Gods as to when I will recieve my Axim. But while waiting I am trying to find a few items for my Axim.
This will be my first venture into the pocket pc world. I have been living the old-school life with my Palm IIIxe since it was a top of the line product. My wife will be taking over the Palm when I get my Axim.
I have enjoyed my palm and will terribly miss a few programs I cannot find anywhere for ppc2k2.

1 - Collapse - this addictive game where the blocks pile up and you have to make sections of matching blocks disappear by tapping the block. If you know where I can find this please let me know.

2 - Dynomite - this isn't a plam game but it is on the MSN games and I can play this on forever.

Also any other recommendations for someone venturing away from palm to ppc2k2 for the first time would be very much appreciated.

Thanks and Happy Holidays

Marchaa

Check out Snails (http://www.snailsgame.com) for an unrelated, but fun, game.

they should make a forum/giant post for anyone going from the Palm OS to the PPC platform.
This could include games, system utilities, OS updates, tips and tricks, and so forth. Just my $.02 worth.

Thanks Jordanaholic, brickie was just exactly what I was looking for. And Fzara, I agree with the forum on the palm to ppc2k2 switch. This is a big step for me. I am really excited to enjoy the benifits of mp3's, video ect. I hope it is a good experience.

Keep on sending any ideas for cool games and apps, because I really need all the help I can get

Quake and SNES is too much to ask of any PPC, not just the Axim. They do run, sure... but not as well as you probably want them to. Haven't tried Simcity, but I see no reason it wouldn't run 100%.

Ask and ye shall recieve. :-) If you didn't see the announcement (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=46536) on the home page, check out the Palm to Pocket PC: Help & Tips forum (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=36).

What kind of speed do the best SNES emulators for Pocket PC run at these days (with sound)? I was really hoping we'd have near-perfect emulation with the XScale 400MHz devices, but the last I heard was, the emulators actually run slower on them :(.

What's the verdict? Will we not have the possibility of near-perfect SNES emulation on the Pocket PC until Intel's next processor release?

Maybe if someone does an xscale specific snes emulator that could use the 400mhz to its full capability??? I don't know I am not a programmer...but it seems worth a try.

Yeah, but even if an SNES emulator worked perfectly, you'd still have button issues ... and I don't think we'll see a PocketPC with an SNES button layout in the near future.

It is not programming it is the damn lame bus on the xscale that kills it! This I remember was MS issue a couple of months ago and now it is Intel's - strange how things work out.

All things come in due time. As for the button layout, I'd say the best hope would be a plugin controller sometime down the line.

Collapse (http://www.astraware.com/games/gamehouse/collapse/index.php?screenshot=1) is of course available as PocketPC version.
