Yahoo! Messenger with T-mobile ??

so im playing with my t-mobile and would like to get yahoo! messenger working

it installed and runs but does not connect -- the best it could do was download my friend list nothing beyond that. it just continues to say "connecting..."

has anyone gotten this to work??

It used to work but Yahoo closed the portal that allows it to connect. It's been dead since the early summer.
